That's what I'm thinking. Before Obi-Wan's announcement, I wasn't feeling this piece much beyond the Portman sculpt. However, now with Obi-Wan coming, it's exciting to be building a Clone Wars collection. It's a lot like HT Jack Sparrow. He's always been a nice figure, but at first, he was a standalone, and that was detracting a bit, but once the line really took off, he got even cooler because he was part of something. I love the CW cartoons and I wish Hasbro's line had had more depth to it, so it's exciting to get these figures, and I like the realistic approach to them. At minimum, I want a CW Anakin added to the mix.

i think the wide eyed look is no worse than any other SS females. i just think it shows more because of her angled eyebrows. she looks pretty good but i passed. not a big fan of padme and i only want 1 padme figure and this isnt it. looking for something from AOTC.
Bespin luke's holster was fine with both my figures. Now, this one is really realy basic as you can tell and isn't anything that just wows you. I've got her holding the gun so it serves its purpose but it could be better at the same time.
I just can't get over those crazy looking eyes.

Sideshow has released MANY great figures but this figure is one that should never had been done. The whole outfit just doesn't work, in it's transition from Cartoon to 1/6th scale (unlike Asajj and General Kenobi).
This Padme just gives me the impression of a "Ski-lodge Barbie" doll, especially with the furry hood and big furry tassles. The long arms and paint apps are the least of the concerns.
I really don't mind the side looking eyes, from time to time. It does add a variety to the figures when posed together. But I can see the limitations introduced.
But the outfit is what I don't like. It's well crafted and SS managed to do a good job with it but the design is just not my cup of tea.
To be honest, I'd be embarrassed to display this figure. My buds would have a field day with their jabs at me... To me, it just reminds me of Barbies. (no Barbies in this collection!)

I disagree. Ever seen a lady wearing a Snow Bunny Padme costume at a Con? There are some nice ones out there, and they show that the translation to "reality" can actually work quite well if done correctly.
I agree that the clothes came out better than the prototype.

Ah, but now you are comparing the outfit to a 1:1 one being worn by an attractive lady at the Con. I'm talking about 1/6th scale here. Try comparing one of the "Slave Leia Babes" from the Con to a 1/6th scaled SS female body wearing that outfit and it ain't gonna work either.
But as I mentioned above, Asajj DOES work well. No Barbie look here.
Asajj's outfit lends itself to easily looking normal in a realistic interpretation. The Illum costume of Padme's is a bit too simplistic to translate into realism and not seem abstract still. The figure looks great, but I think the hard sell for some folks is that the costume doesn't look like something you'd ever see in the practical world. If you made a CW Padme based on her other costumes seen on the show, it'd translate as well as Asajj and Obi-Wan.

I'm actually quite taken with this figure. (Although not with the dust on my table. We eat on the couch. )
I don't see the Barbi in it, other than the whole breast thing. And it's tough to get any more Sci-fi than a skin-huggin' body suit in snowy environs.

Really great pics Monk and your poses are the best I have seen so far.
My Bespin Luke's holster was good until I put his blaster in it. Then the glue delaminated from the strap on his leg.
As far as the costume, I think they should have been allowed to embellish it some. Maybe add some padding similar to what you see in the costumes in ESB. That would have tied it in more with the whole SW realistic universe. Don't get me wrong, it looks good but I think it could have benefited from a little creative licensing...but that's probably not SS's call.

Some superglue will fix that. Mine came apart at the holster's seam, but it was an easy fix.
I also couldn't get the blaster into the holster at all, until I tried the soak the holster in warm water until soft, place blaster in the holster as far as it will go, and let dry method. The real leather holsters really make these figures stand out and I wouldn't want Sideshow to start using plastic.
Unfortunately Padme's color probably forced SSC to use pleather instead. I think there must be something that can be done to make the holster sit on her hip better and close the top flap. Maybe making a seam on the inside of the flap and use the warm water method might get it to look better.
SSC contacted me about my replacement, they're working unusually fast this time around.

Do you mean to cover the knee and elbow joints? Yeah, I could see that.
But, given what they had to work with, I don't see how they could have done any better on bringing a Clone Wars character to the 12" medium in a manner that allows it to blend with the rest of their 12" collection. (Okay, yeah, the eyes were an issue on mine, but I hid the issue fairly well with selective posing.) It's an animated character, after all, so it's not as if they could simply compare materials.
I'm actually more excited now about the Clone Wars characters than I am the regular ones.
