Thing is most of those fans have spent something like three months wages to go and see England.

Nobody forced them at gunpoint to get on a plane and follow the team so I say it's their own fault for being so deluded as to think that a team with 1 world class player surrounded by idiots ever had a genuine chance.

Just went to the FIFA website to watch the USA/Slovenia highlights and they didn't even put in the disallowed US goal in the highlights. Goes to show you that even FIFA knows that the official screwed up. Watched the England/Algeria game and all I have to say is what is England doing? They played awful...really didn't expect that and now the entire group is up for grabs. Not one team truly shines above anyone else but still the US should be tops if the ref wasn't so biased. Another case in point was the yellow card for the hand ball that wasn't there. The ball hit his cheek and shoulder!!!!! That game was the worst officiating I have ever seen the world cup.

Disappointed for the US that they were robbed of a win. England? Same ol' same ol'. Can easily see them not making it out of the group which would have been unthinkable after they appeared to get a decent manager. Sven doesn't look so crap now does he? The english media, not just the newspapers but even the likes of Nuts and Zoo, need to stop talking about any possibility of England winning these competitions. Its just ridiculous every 2 years all this talk despite it all coming to nothing every single time. Lower the expectations and maybe the players will react against those lowered expectations and actually perform. The players need to immediately tell any journalist who asks 'can we win it?' to F___ right off.

What bothers me the most is the FIFA policy that doesn't require the ref to even say what the call was for. They keep replaying the goal, and there isn't anybody blatantly making a foul....especially anyone wearing a U.S.A. jersey.

I think it could be a consequence of referee paranoia ever since the Ireland/France Thierry henry handball incident where a goal in an important game should have been disallowed and wasn't. Here the ref saw so many players and so much contact between players that he was actually in doubt as to who was fouling who, and he was afraid to allow a goal if there was any possibility of an american player fouling a Slovenian player. Unfortunately in this case it was completely the wrong decision because it was all Slovenian players fouling American players.

looks like i missed some of the other bad decisions by the ref in US game. bumblebee was right! that ref had a bit of a nightmare.

this must be the first time in years, maybe ever, in any arena of life, that the USA has been treated like this internationally. dare i say it... yeah ____ it.... won't be long before we see a "war on fifa refereeing" :peace where's bush when you need him?

The military will be bombing FIFA HQ and their referees of mass destruction by the weekend!

In fairness to the USA they do pretty well considering soccer will never be close to the most popular sport there.

As for England I wouldn't blame the manager as Fabio Capello is a manager with a proven track record of success at club level but it's fair to say he had considerably more talented players at his disposal or was able to sign them.

The same is true of Sven Goran Eriksson who had success in Italy with Lazio.

You could put Sir Alex Ferguson, Jose Mourinho, Pep Guardiola or any other top manager in charge of England and the results would be the same.......you can't turn s**t into gold.

credit to the US fans though - i had motson say that from ticket sales, USA were the best supported team. not bad for a country where football isn't their main sport. or even in the top 5 probably. i guess it is a huge country though, where people are relatively well off. but still, i was pleasantly surprised to hear that.
