But that's the problem--you don't know how good someone is without looking at their opponents. The worst NFL team would dominate the best NCAA team, but that doesn't mean the best NCAA team isn't good or can't play well. They just can't hang with superior competition. I do enjoy watching all kinds of teams play. But as fun as Oregon's offense may be to watch, I don't think they would be as exciting against, say, LSU's D, which could very possibly shut them down. And given that the SEC has proven this over the last several years, coming back to my original point, I think it will be a real shame if they are shut out of the BCS title game.

Of course, the BCS system is totally flawed and the ranking systems are biased, so it shouldn't bother me when/if this happens. But, it will just serve to build up more hype around whomever wins, when I know that an SEC team deserved to be there, and probably would have won.

You're right it will be a shame when Jesus Christ (I mean the sec) doesn't have a team in the title.

Now I remember why I don't talk college football with sec fans. :lol

https://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/andy_staples/08/23/sec-dominance/index.html

"For four straight years and five of the past seven, an SEC team has ended the season with its coach holding a Waterford crystal football aloft. Since the Associated Press began crowning a national champion in 1936, no other conference has won four national titles in a row. Since the BCS began in 1998, SEC schools have won half the titles."

"For the past two seasons the participants in the SEC title game have entered the clash ranked No. 1 and No. 2 nationally. 'If people want a playoff,' Saban said, 'all you've got to do is come to the SEC championship game.'"

Love the quote from the Oklahoma professor :lol I bet academics from Ohio State and USC share the same opinion.

Nobody is knocking that the last few years the SEC has been on their game. Thing is its about the best teams this year. That may not be an SEC team or it may be.

Personally, I hope its Boise or TCU vs an SEC team. Then when one of those two teams wins I can't wait to see the excuses.

Play it out on the field and let the chips fall where they may. Let the players do the talking instead of masturbating fans of some schools.

I'm the one who is letting the players of the last few years do the talking. And because of the SEC domination in the BCS title game in that span, any game leaving them out is gonna feel fraudulent. Like I said--let TCU or Boise play Auburn or Alabama, then we'll see. But because of the ____ty BCS process, we may very well not find out if this is the case or not. Then, we can't answer your question, and all the masturbating will be done by an inferior also-ran who holds a meaningless title.

Yay for FSU smacking down the Canes tonight. Also, I'm very happy that LSU had Gatortail for dinner...in the Swamp of all places. I'm sure the Gainesville crisis hotlines are going to be busy tonight.

No nervous laughter at all. Just laughing at another typical sec fan. A title game that doesn't include a team from is as legit as any other.

I'm now exiting the convo. Please enjoy the rest of your evening.

OK. Feel free to return when you can provide me cogent evidence to the contrary :wink1:

The Tide Rolled over :lol

Still a lot of football left to be played. I don't think the MNC will have 2 undefeated teams playing for it. Boise and TCU I doubt make it.

Here's what the first BCS standings will look like if things hold up this weekend according to ESPN...

1. Boise State .913
2. Oregon .863
3. TCU .854
4. Oklahoma .8425
5. Ohio State .8421
6. LSU .782
7. Nebraska .777
8. Auburn .744
9. Michigan State .642
10. Alabama .634

I'm thrilled that Ohio St. won't be in the championship game. Insanely over-rated sons of _____es, year after year. If an SEC team doesn't get in there, I would much prefer to see a TCU, Boise State, or Oregon in there.

Now the ridiculously over-rated Oklahoma needs to go down. I know, I know, squeakers against powerhouse teams like Air Force and Cincinnati are nothing to scoff at, but still.

The winner of the LSU/Auburn game will most likely end up in the National Championship game...but will still need help. The winner of this game will still need for the loser to beat Alabama to secure the SEC West title. The SEC East looks horrible and even Vanderbilt has a chance to win the East, lol.

Thats who I'm hoping for honestly. Would be a fun game to watch and even better because we'd get to hear so many fans whine about they're team not being in it.

They played in a bowl game last year against each other and it was not fun to watch.

They both need to join a major conference if they want to be champions. They can't play a few tough games a year and play patty-cake the rest of the year and expect to play for all the marbles.
