I love Antique Roadshow... its amazing what some of the stuff they bring in is worth and the stories behind how the items got there.

Don't see as much of that here, there's a bit and I think they try to play up that angle. But really its about the Pawn shop making calculated buys and maximizing their turn around.

I noticed when I moved here to Oklahoma that pawn shops were a lot more common, there's at least 5 in my town. Whereas the town I grew up in (about the same size) had one :lol I was pretty excited to check them out, but quickly learned the deals weren't good and most of the stuff was crap :lol

Most pawn shops have 3 things: Jewelry, guns, and junk.

Your comment is not funny at all. :slap I guess you cant help it since your from Texas. Glad to see how some people think.

wow...that's way worse than anything i said. still not sure what's so wrong with saying that comic cons tend to pull in more white people. i swear...just because someone says "black" or "white" we all have to get our racist stick out. :cuckoo: and exactly how was my comment worse than evilface's?

thanks for explaining the difference between pawning and selling...i was wondering why they kept asking if they wanted to pawn or sell.

lol. As a general rule, the more pawnshops a city has, the ____tier the city is.

Whatever you say man. Just keep your racist comments to yourself.

Wow, what a freakin' awesome collection. Glad he didn't take the 5k...he should display them right and charge admission.....nerdy guys of all races could share in it's beauty.

Amen. I once visited Augusta in GA, and the only shops that werent borded up were liquor stores and pawn shops. Then again, I should have been tipped of by the city's official motto "It's a work in progress" and the fact that more than one homeless man asked to stay with me in my room.

"well i can give you five grand for this stuff"

GTFO of my house _______!.

Damn I thought I had alot of G1 Transformers! thanx for sharing this! I sold my Fortress Maximus (without a box) last year on ebay to put towards an engagement ring... got 600 bucks! I still cry a little on the inside whenever I think about it :(

Imagine if that guy sold his collection for $5000. He'd never sleep. Or he would have to name his newborn Optimus Prime.

I don't know why people are acting shocked or offended at the 5K offer. It's a PAWN shop. You know, the places that give pennies on the dollar to people who NEED cash fast. They never give you full value because they need to make money, nor do they give you clsoe to full value because what's the point of giving the guy 15K and taking years to part out the collection to make 2K?
