I think it's a great idea. Just a much more realistic take on how people would react to news of such immense magnitude, the chaos that would ensue and the human drama that would come out of such an event.

Especially if in the end the asteroid skipped off of our atmosphere or something and didn't strike. :lol

Thanks DA... Finally some one got the concept...

Except for the part about skipping off the atmosphere... Although that is also a great concept for a different film, where the characters are putting up a front where they would never keep true to their vows if there was more time.

Sorry Jim. Again, this idea wouldn't work. It would work if people were decent to one another and we actually cared about people we didn't know. However, most don't and they wouldn't pay for it either.

I agree... people are not basically decent.

But only because you are worried about tomorrow and trying to provide for your family.

...But suppose there was no tomorrow... or no tomorrow after five days.

You wouldn't need long term security... You wouldn't have to provide for yourself for more than five days.

No need for supplies for a sixth day. Give the extra stuff away.

I think it's a good idea because the majority would lose their minds and souls, but the minority who did not turn native would have stories worth hearing.

I'd be less interested in the ones who were out there playing Mother Theresa (you see that all the time without the world ending) than the ones defending their own virtue. That would be awesome.

And in the end, if it was a false alarm, the ones who kept their cool would be the only ones with a shred of humanity left. That would be pretty interesting as well.

What would be the intricate human interactions that you would show? I think it is a predictable story/plot because we'll either see people spending quality time with loved ones, people at church, or people living it up, which is the only one i'd be interested in seeing.

how about a movie where an astronaught crash lands on a planet and it turns out the planet is run by apes?
then it turns out it actually Earth and there's been a nuclear war.

oh wait......
