Re: We will never forget 911!!

Mesa you're a total baby imo. I derailed this thread because we have an EXACT same thread already and in THAT thread there have been some amazing posts. This thread was totally not neccessary.

So lock it up already

No, the first thread is "Where were you when..."

This thread is/was originally intended that "We will never forget..."

Big difference.

One is discussing about exactly where we were when this tragedy. Everyone remembers that day, like when the Challenger blew up, or Kennedy/Lennon/Cobain was shot. This other one is just political in nature by its title. "We will never forget." And it gets derailed and filled with crap images of Borat and whatever else, ironic because I think it shows that some of us have forgotten. I provide some insight and examples on how it appears we already have forgotten, and get called out for it. Whatever.

I was flipping through the channels looking for replays of Ed McCaffrey(DEN) breaking his leg the night before on MNF when I found the Today Show showing the North Tower on fire. I continued to watch and saw the second plane hit. After that I called my wife(then girlfriend).

c'mon dudes! the political bickering and politician worship needs to be put down. can't you see?? this is what the enemy wants. lets show them!!

Funny, we got more of those Eagles in Canada.:D

I woke up to the Kevin & Bean show, but they were on vacation and it was Doc on the rock and the movie guy doing the news. They were so panicky I thought it was just a bit they were doing. But it became obvious that they were serious. I think the second plane had just hit.

Went into work, but we didn't do anything and just went home early.

I was sleeping at my boss' house. She came running into my room and woke me up telling me to turn on the tv. We did nothing for the rest of the day but watch with great sorrow the events unfold on television.

I was on my way back from night classes. It was when I got home to my TV that I knew what happened.

But pointing fingers at the current president while saying not to blame the past president seems a bit hypocritical. Not to mention posting a very obviously slanted article and claiming it as fact. You are a good guy man, I've long ago put aside my political differences from you and tried to not go postal every time you post something like this...

But I just had to try and bring the thread back to normality. Posting funny pictures in a duplicate thread does not mean people have forgotten. I think that people feel safe again, and don't worry as much as they once did. But there is still a lot of remembrance going on, as evidenced by the existence of the first thread.

But your super left leaning article was IMO the wrong path to take to try and point fingers at people for cracking a joke on the anniversary of 9/11. We may not be waving flags and hugging our political rivals anymore, but dammit... we haven't forgotten.

I was in tenth grade, first week at Bayside high school in Queens, across the river from Manhattan. Being on the third floor, we all saw the second plane hit followed by a huge fireball. I immediately left school and walked home as the rumors of terrorist had already started spreading the second the 2nd plane hit. By the time I got home, there was only 1 tower still standing. I remember smelling ash outside of my house for about 2 days after the tragedy.

I was at home sleeping. I had just graduated from college the previous semester, and hadn’t had a job lined up yet, so I watched the events unfold on TV. I try to call my mom who works for the federal government in DC, but I couldn’t get through (I live in northern VA). My girlfriend was working retail at the time, and they sent her home early as all the malls were closing. I remember there was so much misinformation going around; people saying that malls in Northern Virginia were being attacked, etc. My mom made it home okay.

The evening of 9/11, after being cooped up all day, we got out and drove around. I still remember how quiet and tranquil everything seemed. There were hardly any other cars on the road, and everything was so quiet and still it was surreal.

Unrelated to me, but I still marvel at this: the mother-in-law of a co-worker of mine worked at the Pentagon at the time and survived the attack because she missed it. She left for a dentist appointment before the plane hit the Pentagon. Everyone else in her department died in the attack.

Sleeping, I had the day off and my phone kept ringing and ringing. I finally got out of bed and my mom told me to turn on the TV. About 5 minutes later the second plane hit.

:lecture

Same exact thing I was doing.

Ditto. I was sleeping on the couch when a friend's mom called to see if he was there. She told me to turn the TV on the second plane hit like a minute later. I was off that day and I sat in front of the TV like a zombie. I got the same exact feeling as when I was a kid and watched the space shuttle blow up live on CNN. Creepy... :(
