Has anyone else noticed that prices for Hot Toys have been slipping?

Do you think this is good or bad? It would be nice to pick up some older figures at discount prices, but I don't like to see the value drop on my collection.

Any thoughts?

JohnnyT, I have a lot of older release figures, and it comes down to this in my oppinion. Will HTs re-release these?, and if they do, I believe the prices would be very high. A gamble .

They may revisit a character, with a different look. I personally like seeing the quality changes over time. HS have improved etc. I tend not to look at my collection with $$ in my eyes, yes it's nice to see something appreciate, but that is not my focus when collecting. If it was I'd put my money into gold stocks.

It’s because any figure can and probably will be remade now if Hot Toys thinks that they can capitalize on a figure’s inflated after market prize.
Who wants to pay big money for an old figure where if you’re patient enough it’ll get remade, and even better? I know I want ever again.

They're toys.
Collectible toys, but toys nonetheless.
The prices of decent 1:6 have gotten WAY out of hand. I hope they all come down so that folks can afford to add them to their collections.

^^
The prices do need to drop. There getting close to insaine. I can't even imagine how much HT are going to want for Skywalker.

I believe at least USD$280 haha with the crazy prices they r charging nowadays.
Howard Chan does not need a new house again!!!

Re-releases are definitely affecting things.
Thought I do love the beautiful ebay dreamers that still think their Enterbay Enter the Dragon figures will fetch $1000 :rotfl

And I think another reason for prices 'slipping' for older figures is that with the industry moving so fast (sculpting, painting, accessories, etc...) older figures are looking crappy very quickly. Why would you want to pay a huge premium for an older figure when its going to look like substandard on your shelf next to newer ones.

What the hell are these brothersfree things?

I'm literally flabergasted, with so many cool licenses announced and not yet produced, with so many wasted oppetunities to make great characters HT decide to make half-man half-Alien/ape creatures with DIY equipment

:slap :slap :thud:

Whatever that is, I'm just thanking them for giving us a breather after they bombarded us w/ continuous release these past few months. :)

I imagine they are just more of the Ape Explorer figures they've made for the last few years. So whine some more. :dunno

What's up with Hot Toys high prices lately?

I'm not referring to big license figures like Batman or Iron Man, but smaller and less fanbased figures.

Brothersfree monkey bloke 1: $250

Brothersfree monkey bloke 2: $335

Samurai Predator: $360

Steadily raising prices on an existing line to test what collectors will pay (Iron Man) seems reasonable, but very high prices for the three above figures with such little interest seems foolish.

Niche products tends to equate to higher MSRPs.

Aren't those apes and monkeys they make always more expensive?

Nothing new from Hot Toys. Wondering why is taking so long to officially announce and provide with the specs for figures like Symbiont Spiderman and others. I was sure we would have gotten something by now.
