Some people think it's gimmicky.
I think it's good for the first time you see it and for photo shoots, but that's about it.
I keep them off for the other 99% of the year.

:exactly: I just have no use for it. I prefer they give us the unbreakable sabers that don't light up. I never light them up either except to test it when I get it.

I light my sabers once a year for Christmas. Speaking of which I was able to open mine up and it is a fabulous piece. However my saber only lights up 3/4 of the way. Time to write SS and see what they can do for me. Loving this piece though. I went to take some pics earlier but the wife had the camera.

One member here said he had to let his lightsaber warm up before it would light all the way through. You might want to leave it on for a few minutes, maybe.

I actually left it on for a half hour and it still wouldn't light up all the way. I just checked it again and now its not even lighting up. I moved everything around and still couldn't get it to light up. What a bummer.

Anyways merry Christmas eveyone. :wave

Ah!!!! Found a leaking battery set in my Luke PF! This sucks it's only been 5 months since i got it and put the batteries in it. Now I'm going back to remove all the batteries. All this light up stuff is useless. Iwishe they didn't do the light up thing and lower the prices instead.

Dramatic much?:lol

Those leaking batteries are they crappy brands or Energizer/Duracell?

check to make sure the boot that is the connection is all the way in. Had that issue and just had to make sure it was on level surface and all the way in. if not then contact good ole SS.

Yeah I tried it again last night before I went to bed and it did light up but still only 3/4 of the way. I wrote to SS this morning now waiting for a response.

Mine was doing the same thing. I finally figured out that you have to put pressure on the statue from front to back, which presses the pin deeper into the electrical socket and the saber lights 100%. I think I just need to put something small under her toe to make that work. Haven't tried it yet, but I think it will work.

It's a really dumb mistake by Sideshow. It shouldn't be that finite a margin between working and not working.

I've had it lit now for about four hours hoping that it will light up fully but still about 2" of the saber isn't lighting. What a bummer, my wife actually likes this one.

Damn, that really sucks.

Like I said, hopefully they just send you a knew arm with lightsaber.
Contact is obviously being made. The on/off switch is working.

The issue is somewhere within the lightsaber.
If you haven't already, send SSC a picture of this.

I'll try to post pics tomorrow. After going back through the pics in this thread and looking at yours it definitely looks bad. Your pics came out really good by the way.

Oh ok I asked because the tip on mine doesn't light up because the bulb ends before the tip. Just wanted to make sure you are aware of that, but from the sound of it yours actually isn't lighting up all the way.

I thought the issue was with the saber as well, but finally futzed around and realized the connection plug in the foot wasn't quite connecting fully, causing the saber to only light about 2/3 of the way up. I'm sure some of the more electronically proficient members here can speak in detail as to why. I'm going to try and get a very small washer to put under the front of that foot, forcing the pressure into her heal and pressing the contact plug in a little further. Like I said, a really silly mistake for Sideshow to make. Seems like there are connectivity issues with this light-up feature quite often.

I'm aware that the electrode on the end of the saber isn't going to light up but it's not even close. I also tried what Dennis suggested and that didn't work either. I will continue to futz with it until SS gets back to me. Maybe with some luck it will work properly before I have to go through the replacement process.
