well, I'm back on the bandwagon. I can't believe I used to collect those Coke trading cards!...GAH!...I'm such a dork!:monkey4:rotfl

See that Jinxx, my one comment changed your mind! Just get the comiquette, you know you'll regret it later.

See, that's how I feel; its nice to see something different every now and then. Plus, I'm also HUGE fan of Norman Rockwell's work. You'll never hear me complain when Adam goes this route with his illustrations.

totally, great job on this one.

to bad whom ever did the Venom print couldn't of took some of the same ideas.
my 7yr old could of done a better job on that one.

Here in Atlanta we have the Coke-a-Cola museum, and they have several of the originals of those paintings on display. Its cool to see them in person. Also; George Lucas has a Rockwell on display (maybe more than one, now that I am thinking back) at Skywalker Ranch. It was super cool to stand in front of those pieces, stare, and basically be amazed.

So if you are a dork, you are a dork in pretty good company. Adam and I and George are all right there with you.

I agree, it is nice to see something different. When he first said to me "Is that suppose to be like Norman Rockwell?" I looked at him like he didn't even know who Norman Rockwell was lol.

I was an illustration major in college, and I did my freshman year at a school in Australia. I wanted to do my end of the year paper on Rockwell, and they were like "who?". I went to our library (the art campus had its own, AMAZINGLY well stocked library) and was stunned to see they had NO books on Norman Rockwell. I hate to say it, but I fear Norman Rockwell was a very American phenomenon, and isn't terribly well known outside of the US. I was shocked by this at the time. But since then I have met many foreign illustrators that know his work.

I've heard of him but I could have never told you what he painted until now. I was just surprised he knew it right away when I showed him the final print.

I only knew of him through his work for Coca-Cola. I didn't know he illustrated for The Saturday Evening Post. Are they still around?

the original paintings? I've seen several in museums, as well as prelims.

If you hit a Barnes and Nobles or Borders book store, check out the calendar section; they ALWAYS have calendars featuring Norman Rockwell's art. Calendars.com has 5 different ones available:

If you know what you are looking at, the influence is undeniable. Your friend has a good eye!
