I usually don't give a crap when celebrities/artists die, but this news bums me out :(

____ you cancer.

Rest in peace, MCA. :bow

Yeah, usually it's more of a "that's weird" kind of reaction from me. But this genuinely makes me sad.

I've been listening to them since I was basically 6 years old and have the LTI tape. Absolute end of an era for me.

No SW sketches for me today... :(

Awful. F'king cancer.

The Beastie's License to Ill came out when I was a junior in high school. They were part of my personal soundtrack growing up.

47 is much too young to go.

One of the signs of great, older music is you can't believe your dad listened to it.

When I was young there were a lot of people who thought BBs were "here today, gone tomorrow". So much 80's music went on to become dated and sad, not the Beasties. Kids are still discovering them today and becoming loyal fans.

But there's a bunch of 40-somethings feeling awful today. Including me.

Well, if the Boys kept releasing albums exactly like LTI, they absolutely would have been "gone tomorrow". But instead, they got better, made more interesting music, and grew up (but not too much). Which is why they lasted so long, and are so amazing.

30 something’s too... I was in the sixth grade when License to Ill came out... I remember all of my friends singing their songs at recess.

LTI was the first "real" album I had besides The Beatles'.

Also, so much gold in this:

"These guys are good dancers" is still the first thing I think of when I hear SWW.

Rest in Peace Adam.
You will be missed!
NYC Skaters will miss our boy

Eveyone keeps talking about license to ill but for me it's all about Paul's boutique. That was truly the last old school hip hop album, right after that is when all the sampling lawsuits started and killed truly creative turntablism. I'm kind of shocked how bummed I am about this, normally I could give a crap.

Besides being a fan what makes this hard is that this was a life truly taken by a ____ty disease. This wasn't some retard that ODed or shot himself.

I ____ing hate cancer. :gah:

Wtf mind blown i thought he beat it.
BB is one of may favorite bands.

Did he keep it quiet or what? Wtf is going on? I thought it was beaten?

Pretty bold statement there. Some would say it's Public Enemy's "Fear of a Black Planet."

you know that gets touted a lot but i personally think It Takes a Nation of Millions is better than Fear of a Black Planet, but obviously that's personal taste.

By the by, when Paul's Boutique first came out Chuck D called it the greatest Hip Hip album, obviously he's changed his mind since then (I believe he thinks Raising Hell is the best hip Hop album now).
