Re: Have You Seen Me?

is that the reason why, i always thought it was because Piett found something on Hoth and made Ozzel look like a fool

Yeah, that's my take on that. With Vader, there's no room for failure, and a Captain should never show up an Admiral like that. Ozzel was speaking with certainty that Hoth wouldn't be right, Piett went over him and insisted it as a possiblity and Vader agreed, which made Ozzel look like an ass. Piett should have kept quiet but didn't.

Re: Have You Seen Me?

looks like we will be seeing him soon :banana:chew:banana

Re: Have You Seen Me?

I don't disagree, but Piett seemed like he was a loyal follower of Vader's.
Ozzel seemed to be one of those officers like Admiral Motti, who disliked and maybe even plotted behind Vader's back.
Even after he was dressed down the first time, he chose to disobey a direct order. Big mistake.
Piett never questioned Vader, most likely from fear.

i dont think Ozzel ever disobeyed Vader, if im not mistaken he came out of hyperspace too close to the planet which alerted the rebels and gave them time to counter-attack and escaped...which was his second military mistake, one too many for Vader

If anything, it shows that Piett was wise at how to stay alive and succeed under Vader's command, no matter what, always ultimately accepts Vader's ruling.

I'd like to know what Lucas' thinking was with ANH. They mention the Emperor and the disolving of the Senate, so there is indication that there is a higher authority over Vader and Tarkin, yet Tarkin is still a higher power than Vader, he was second only to the Emperor, and yet after his demise, Vader was second to the Emperor and no Imperial stood in his way.

Perhaps, all of the Grand Moffs (EU aside) were on the Deathstar when it blew.

Well, in theory, it's been sitting in the SSC warehouse for a couple weeks.

Yeah, I don't know why they refused to combine ship my Han/Luke with him if he's already there. I was out of the country for a couple weeks, so Sideshow didn't ship Han/Luke the very end of last week.

Well, I'm guessing if they're backed up this bad, things aren't running smooth in shipping right now and it's probably easier on them to ship items and get them out of the way instead of trying to combine things right now.

Got my notice as well, from the SDCC pics Piett turned out well! I'm guessing they will start shipping tomorrow since the notices went out last night . Hopefully most will have him either in hand or at least shipped by this timer next week.

Somehow I always felt that Vader was outside the chain of command. He just came and went as he pleased is my take on it. I never really felt he was subordinate to Tarkin, it was more like he listened to him as an equal. His "Enough of this, Vader release him!" sounded more like a stern admonishment than an order to me... but then again, I'm not a native english speaker, so what do I know! :lol
Also, when they are discussing the options of torture and blowing up planets to get information from Leia, it sounded much more than equals rather than a chain of command.
Afterwards, in ESB and ROTJ, Vader was tasked with crushing the rebellion and finding Luke, so he was once again outside the chain of command, reporting directly to the Emperor. I don't think Vader was ever much involved with the bureaucracy of the Empire, so I'm sure there were hundreds of officials who on paper ranked above Vader in the Empire's hierarchy.

Oh, and I'm stoked about getting Piett!
The Empire rules! Let's crush that rebel scum!
