Re: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series!

Just saw episode 3. Not bad. Still haven't changed my mind about the show. I like the characters but I think the stories and plots are still lacking, IMO. However the teaser of the villain at the end was pretty cool and I really hope that storyline lives up to its potential. It still feels like a cheap 80s show, especially the scene with Coulson and Agent Handsome fighting off the guards outside the force field.

I know we all keep comparing it to the A-Team and those cheesy 80s action shows. I loved those shows as a kid and probably never noticed how cheap it all looked. My point is kids are most likely loving this show, and we all probably would too if we were 13 and under. I just wish they wouldn't feel afraid to make the story lines a bit more substantial so it keeps the adults happy as well. That would offset how cheap the show feels, if at least the stories were more compelling.

I feel like i could just watch the last 5 minutes of every episode and not miss a thing.

Which can pretty much be said for every show. Even CSI. :lol

Not Breaking Bad or Homeland or Game Of Thrones or even Walking Dead. Those shows all have watershed moments embedded within the episodes that fundamentally change things.

Re: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series!

We're at an age where we expect more from TV. TV is the new film. It's the best place to currently tell a story visually, by far. And I just wish, even shows on channels aimed at women and small children, would embrace that, and make a product that is on par with any current film.

But I have hope, since the series has been picked up for another 22 episodes, I hope Whedon and crew will look at the criticisms, and fix them.

First one, stop with that even TV lighting. This isn't the 90's. This show isn't for grandma.

Well, it IS quite important. Being a visual medium and all. Plus, it helps set the tone, and all that stuff.

You show an action filmed in a flat, lifeless dull looking set....it doesn't rack the tension. A little style and flair wouldn't kill them.

Re: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series!

I didn't say that. I think continually knitpicking a TV show for how it's filmed should stay in film class. :lol

Kind of funny he's doing all that here when he tried to rip me a new one for thinking Gravity sucked last weekend. :rotfl

:dunno I can sit in the same place for more than 10 minutes and actually get involved in a story.

Uh, because Gravity was fantastic? And you didn't want to discuss anything, so that's all on you. You gave your opinion, and left. Cool. I guess. Despite this being a discussion board. :dunno

Sure. But the visuals help you get the scene better. It's a subtle thing. But it is there.
It's just funny that people can be so against putting some artistic merit into something. I mean, this IS an expensive show, right? It shouldn't look like a cheap Sci-Fi show, visually.

You add that little ingredient, and I know people would enjoy it just a little bit more.

I can also understand that the show is just getting off it's feet. I'd imagine that now, since it got picked up for a full season, we'll see more improvements. It's easy to be an armchair producer when you really don't know what the director's got to work with.
