#394 is in the house, and I'm happy to report that it's near flawless.
"..NEAR.."
There is a little gap between the dome and head, but it's very little, and in the back, so it is very hard to see.
The base does not feel rough. Tendons are intact as far as I can tell.
Nothing is chipped or broken, and the nameplate is perfect.
Already got compliments on him from family and friends...
Overall a good purchase which I am happy with, and definitely a keeper.
Please excuse the cell pics - I an a klutz when it comes to pictures:

Well, first the good. No broken pipes, no broken off tendons & no major scuffs or scratches on the dome. These are the 3 things I was dreading the most that would have definitely had me asking for a replacement.

Now the bad & the ugly. I could only display this piece with the right side showing because the tendon on the left is disgraceful. The part that's broken off on Col's, & several others, has no detailing on it at all like the rest of the tendons. Plus, there's a huge blob of glue in the middle of it &, surprise, surprise, a crack right through it too. I've had to pack my bust away & I won't be surprised if it's snapped off next time I whip out my Big Chap. :monkey1

I have many of the same complaints as Col. Gaps, filler & glue residue in several places, flat paint job that doesn't compare to the Warrior's, awful teeth & the sealing around the dome is frighteningly inconsistent with gaps in some places & too much filler in other places. Plus, the packaging for this piece is shockingly poor. Someone mentioned before that it looks like a big part of the Styrofoam packaging has been just ripped out to make a hole & that's the same with mine. Surely everyone's is like that? Just, wow! There are several scratches on the Styrofoam made by the bust so I believe many of these breakages are as a direct result of the horrendous packaging.

Which leads me on to the brown shipper. :gah: I only started collecting again recently. Warrior was my first Sideshow item since, I think, my The Circle is Now Complete Diorama. I'm looking, right now, at my Luke & Yoda Dagobah Training PF shipper & on the side of the box there is a silhouette of a broken wine glass & underneath it, in capital letters, is the word FRAGILE. Next to this is a large black arrow pointing upwards & underneath this, again in capitals, is HANDLE WITH CARE. Sincerely, when did Sideshow come to the 'genius' conclusion that these warnings were unnecessary? I mean, this must have been a creative decision to drop these in favour of a giant Sideshow Collectibles logo instead. Why, for the love of God, would anybody handling these 'highly' expensive items of ours bother to treat these boxes with due care if there is nothing on the frickin' box instructing them to do so? There is no possible reasonable explanation for this, Sideshow, & you really 'must' include these warnings on your shippers in the future. You know, like back when people thought that you actually cared about us receiving our items in the best possible condition. :slap

My brown mailer came damage free... But my actual bust box came with a puncture in the back... Same as my warriors box.

Re: Alien Legendary Scale Bust

Must say that I've received 7 statues this year from Sideshow and this has been the biggest disappointment of them all.

I can say about the tendons on this one and the Warrior: be very careful with them once your statues are on display! I went to look at slightly adjusting one of my Warrior's tendons that was a bit away from the lip and looked "disconnected", (well, because it was). Gap bothered me, so I was looking at maybe gluing the end of the tendon to where it was supposed to touch. My statue wasn't just in from the cold or anything. But sure enough, the end of the tendon exploded off of the larger piece and went flying across the room. Now I have toglue the tendon back together, never mind getting it to touch the statue.

Totally can see how so many are turning up broken. They don't seem to have any "flex" in them at all. Just be careful.

Congrats J97e1.

Sorry to hear Matt. What you going to do?

Yeah jag, the loose tendon piece is very rigid.
Surely a plastic with a bit of give/flex would of avoided all the breakages.

It's horrible that some pieces are like a lottery.
Some arrive with very few issues then others are 50/50 or worse.
Some of these factories need to lose their contracts with Sideshow.

There isn't a chance in hell that I'm going to order the P2 Maquette direct from Sideshow now.
I'll wait for him to hit the local retailers and get him checked over first. Something SS are unable/unwilling to do even with replacement items and products with a known high issue rate.

Thank god my collection room is full so I can stop playing this lottery...
Damn! Still got Machiko, Masked Pred and Elder to come next year :gah:

I think I'll just put up with mine, Col. I honestly believe that even if I took photos of the faults that Sideshow would just effectively 'shrug' & say what's the big deal? At least mine isn't as bad as yours, mate. But I hate not even being able to display him with his left side showing just because the tendon is plain, glue blobbed & cracked. :monkey2

This should have been a certified grail piece to people like you, me, tcollector, wierzbowski & several others on this board but it's just turned into one massive disappointment due to incredibly shoddy workmanship. Although I still hope that things turn around for you with your replacement.

& the thing is, I'm sure that I can expect more of the same next year with the Masked Hunter LSB & it's inevitable broken dreads, again, due to poor packaging & handling. Will Sideshow have learned from the P1 & P2 dread debacle? I wouldn't expect so, unfortunately.

Seriously, they have to start putting warnings/advice for the handlers back on the packaging otherwise I don't think items like the Predator LSBs will stand a chance of getting to buyers undamaged.

My Machiko EX just converted last week and I allowed it to go through. Such a beautiful piece that I'll risk it. As I stated in that thread though, I think my focus will start leaning more towards Hot Toys and such after that. I'll keep an eye on this line if it continues to grow, and won't rule out all future statue purchases; however, it's definitely nerve wracking until it arrives -- and sometimes even moreso when it does!

The one plus with PFs is that they're usually multiple pieces, so replacements are easier to come by. With this one, it's all or nothing on them sending out replacements.

Congratulations! I almost jumped on the wait list for the EX but she's so expensive I'm not sure if I want to spend that much. She's a great piece--my PO list is already just insane. I'm thinking I may have to start getting rid of some of the lower priority pieces I own to make room/pay for the stuff I've got coming in the next year. Either that or buy a new house.

Haha thanks! Yeah, your list is massive :lol Right now she's all I have on PO, though I'll have Star-Lord, and the rest ordered as well (Well, not Drax...his sculpt looks HORRIBLE right now. I'll have no issues waiting until G2 for that one :lol)

I agree, she's really pricey, but something about her kept nagging at me (in the "buy me" sense) and I figured she was worthwhile to go with these two pieces, as well as some other Alien/Pred stuff! Make a whole dedicated area :) Ripley from Hot Toys will be my other purchase next year. Still unsure as to which version, but in all likelihood it'll be the Alien version, as I can't see the Power Loader coming in for a reasonable price unfortunately. Luckily Alien Ripley looks superb from what's been shown!

Re: Alien Legendary Scale Bust

I may still pick her up later if I can find a deal or use some points on a regular version. She's definitely a beautiful statue.

Alien Ripley is a must-buy for me. I'll have to see the price on the power loader before I commit to that one though.
