Any other references in other movies?
Spoof movies always have then, Last Action Hero had them all over the place too.

A really good one was Danny Glover's cameo as a masked robber who steals from Mel Gibson in Maverick. The Lethal Weapon theme kicked in and the two men looked at eachother odd as if they recognised eachother.

Then there's the Freddy glove in Jason Goes To Hell at the end. Another one is the police evidence locker in Bride of Chucky which is seen containing Freddy's glove, Jason's mask and Leatherface's chainsaw.

what about freddy's claw pulling jason's mask down at the end of jason goes to hell?

Jason goes to hell was made by New Line the same company that owns the rights to the Nightmare movies so it only happened because they owned the Friday rights by then. Also they had been writing a JVF screenplay even years before JGTH came out. It just took that long to finalize a decent story.

Foreshadowing? Yeah probably.

Pretty cool though...

In "Evil Dead" there's a ripped poster of The Hills Have Eyes (1977) visible. Ostensibly, this was in reference to a ripped poster for Jaws (1975) that appeared in that film; Sam Raimi and the others interpreted that as Wes Craven suggesting that "Hills" was much more frightening than "Jaws", thus they showed a ripped "Hills" poster because their film was to be even scarier yet.

That's not the same as the alien skull in Predator 2 though - that skull implies that the movies, Predator and Aliens, are set in the same "universe" and that the two species have met at some point.

The poster in Evil Dead II just suggests that The Hills Have Eyes is a movie that soomeone in the cabin likes...and it isa movie, it's not like the viewer is thinking, "oh cool Deadites and Jupiter have met before then!"

In Evil Dead II, Freddy's glove can be seen hanging in the cellar. In JGTH, the Necronomicon is seen in the Voorhees house.

I wish the movies were like the comics, it may have been better that way.

You know, a lot of people say this, and I agree that I love the comics, but the original AvP just wouldn't work in a movie.

The Rynth would had to have been CGI, I don't think audience goers would like that an older Predator got picked up and brought into a 'hospital' setting only to team up with a little Japanese woman (especially after everyone had a ^^^^ about Lex and Scar), and I really don't think anyone would buy Machiko getting blooded and joining the Predators at the end of the movie.

Yeah I guess I see what your sayin, but there might be som who would like it more then the Lex and Scar thing.

I personally liked both ideas, and while I don't think it'd do well with audiences.... not because it was a bad story, just because most people out there are totally stupid when it comes to anything Alien/Predator.

Just look up reviews on youtube and you'll find dozens of people complaining about stuff in movies that I have an easy answer for, they just don't know a lot of the material because they see it as, 'just a movie' and don't know the rest of the background and extended universe.

The most annoying thing I've found is in the original AvP movie when people go on a ^^^^^ about Scar and Lex but praise the comic when Machiko and Broken Tusk essentially did the same thing, and then they deny in comments that Scar and Lex was a throwback to the comic!

I'm one of the people who didn't like the Lex & Scar teamup. The only reason I didn't like it was because I did NOT like the Lex character at all. For some reason she didn't do anything for me. I also felt that she was hindering Scar in his fight against the Queen.

For example would be in the very beginning of the battle when the Queen is bustig out of the ruble. Scar would've had his helm on and he wouldn't of been distracted by Lex. Another reason would be that Scar could've been worried about Lex, and that may have impaired is sense of battle, esspecialy because he was a young teen predator.

If this makes no sense please just forget it all.

i thought the shot of them running side by side away from the explosion looked like the batman team up shots at the end of the schumacher movies.

also, i didn't like any of the rest of the movie.
got the awesome microman figures from it though

Yeah, it wouldn't work as a movie, Anderson's film proved that. The comic-book worked cos it was a comic-book and was never gonna be something ever taken seriously or criticised for not being realistic.

Well, I wouldn't agree with Lex hindering Scar - she saves his life at least once! - but I do agree about the character thing. Compared to Machiko, Lex simply doesn't seem as charismatic or capable, which badly undermines the teamup aspect.

Machiko was set up very well as the sort of character who a Predator might relate to - an adept fighter and leader, very aggressive in her own way - and in turn her background was used to explain why she reacted relatively well to the Predators. With Lex, she's set up as a pacifist (albeit a very tough survivor!) and simply wasn't as well written as a leader IMO.
