Does it at least look nice? How did you find out it was a recast?

If you're satisfied with the quality of the recast, then maybe a partial refund should suffice. Considering if he did indeed try to pass it off as a real Halcyon model kit. (Meaning he lied about the description).

I dont have any issues with how it looks. I never had a real thing in my hand so no idea if it does have less detail then the real thing, also its meant to be slightly smaller.

He told me he is the 2nd owner as he bought it from the guy that built and painted it, so not sure if he lied or actually thought it was real thing without knowing.

I found out by reading some garage kit forum saying the kit was made from black vinyl and the recast are white. There is a bit of unpainted patch on the inside of one of the legs which shows the leg being white vinyl and not black.

quick update for those of you who are interested. :lol
The seller who sold me the Queen told me he will give full refund so I have sent it back to him today, if all goes well I should have refund in 2 days time.
I have been offered a genuine Halcyon built and painted for $75 from clubhouse so will think about that as its a very good offer.

Its a garage kit community.
He dont have anything else for sale im afraid.

Aw okay thanks for the info.. I like buyin cheap (but nice) painted Halcyon Alien models. They're not that accurate but, with a nice custom paint job they can look incredible!

As they are all now out of production the cheap ones may be recasts.
The Alien Queen kit sells for $80+ now.
Queen kit is much more accurate then most of the figures out there of the Queen. Only ones I know that are more accurate are the SWS sculpt based ones like the SS Dio and they cost hell of a lot more. :)

Yeah, that's why I always ask the painter for the before and after pics and the original box to at least make sure I'm getting the original item. (If he states that it is)

Oh and when I said "cheap" I meant between $80-$150 for a fully built Halcyon model kit that has an incredible paint app. Which isn't actually that hard to find, if you know where to look. I got my custom built and painted Dog Burster Halcyon model with original box for only $99. :wink1:

Ah right.
What kinda places you think I should look at for the Queen built and painted? Want to see if I can find a better deal.

Well the only guy I knew of that sold relatively "cheap" ($80-$150) fully built professionally painted model kits was "creepshow_comics" on ebay. He has a website that showcased all his work but, I can't find it at the moment and he's not selling anything on ebay right now either. Sorry

Good luck with your hunt though. :wink1:

Man, I used to have all those kits. Actually, those kits are what started me painting. I still have an unpainted lifesize facehugger, an unbuilt Dog Burster, and a built up unpainted Nostromo.

I thought those kits were expensive back in the day, and now they sell for about the same fully built and painted...:slap

Thanks anyway.
Everyone said the unbuilt kits sell for $120 these days guess they are overestimating the value. :lol

I guess this is the best place to ask.

Okay so, I want to eventually collect every A/P comic, graphic novel, book, omnibus, etc...everything.

For the comics, I need somthing to put them in..does anyone know where I should look? I want those plastic case thingys. Or is there somthing better I could use?

...maybe there's even somthing made for the graphic novels?

Do you want those for display or just conservation?

I keep mine inside resealable plastic bags stored inside plastic containers.... in the shade.
