Was just wondering what you guys all thought would be the next release in the diorama line from Sideshow. I remember from the first press release that they gave a price range for the line from $149.99 to $299.99, and I would definately like to see what they might have in store for us in the higher range. So far every figure has been $149.99. Sideshow must have some idea of the larger pieces to have quoted the price range.

Anyway, I have all four of the Aliens and the P2 exclusive on order. Wish I did not pass on the P1 exclusive, but will definately try to pick him up to have the full run. Being mostly an Alien fan, I am interested in when SS might offer the Queen (from Aliens, not AVP).

I'm also wondering why the only dioramas to receive an exclusive have been the Predators. Hmmm...

What are your thoughts on this?

:D

Yes. I envision Ripley, Newt, and her Majesty in the egg laying lair.

You do know about the Alien and Predator 1:4 scale busts?
I also hope they do an Aliens Queen diorama correctly, 2 pieces, first the Queen and the eggs, 2nd part to be sold later (wallet recovery time needed) that will have Ripley, Newt, and some eggs. Really cool would be a third section that has two Aliens guards. All three fitting together seemlessly.

Blasphemy!

Hot Toys will make a Queen in scale with the Power Loader damnit!!

I got it.... Build A Queen! Get Ripley and Queens head, Newt and body. Aliens Queen Guard and arms (4), another guard and her feet. Eggs, deck and that wonderful sack thingy.

Not to knock Hot Toys, but I was more interested in the Diorama line from Sideshow. I think it would be fine to have just a part of the queen emerging from the elevator or some other back structure, not necessarily the entire creature.

However, I do like the ideas here for a "build a queen" set, coming in three or four interlocking dios. Pretty cool.

They'd have to make it out of scale I'd wager.

I'd love to see it but the Power Loader did not sell well ( you can still find them floating around with dealers)

Consider how much the Queen dwarfs Ripley in the final battle. They could make it a little bigger than the Powerloader but we'd be talking a 350-400 buck set if you wanted eggs and an egg laying system. And what is the thing gonna weigh? IIRC, that Queen headdress area is huge. At some dimension, you block out the non US buyers.

The only viable scenario I see is this - Make a Queen out of scale some without the Egg laying system/hive mock up. Make that something you can sell online. Then release another Queen with the egg laying system/hive mock up but make it a SDCC Exclusive. You negate the shipping issue by having people pick it up themselves and load it into their cars. You can give the online Queen a Newt chase figure and the Hive a "cocooned" Newt variant. If you buy the Queen from SST's website, give them half of Bishop as an exclusive.

Half the problem is the non exclusive Aliens right now don't sell all that well. The variants and Grid move, but the regular versions sit and die on the secondary market. Heavy oversize item using tooling that can't be milked out much in a line that doesn't sell well ( half of that is HT's fault, they overpriced the Aliens and skimped on the accessories) , I'd love to see it but I think the chances are dim.

GG

You do realize that the original question was about a Sideshow Queen dio, NOT a Hot Toys Queen, right?

We must have her in all her majestic entirety. She's got a great bod! :naughty

yes, we need an Alien Queen diorama, one that will scale with the other alien and predator diorama's, so , we need a big one,

A queen dio would be sweet. Just the queen in her "chamber" would certainly be the best design.

I wonder though...since they've done all the Alien and Predator movies now, will they do anymore?

I can see SS doing it this way...

Here's part of an interview, done with SS, at the SDCC...

Now that you’ve announced the Predator 2 Diorama, is that it for the Alien and Predator movies? I was hoping for an Alien Queen and a few other things from this line. Bummer if it’s over already.

Our Alien/Predator/AVP diorama line is far, FAR from done. So far, the products have been released in sort of film-release chronology sequence, but from here out, it’s fair game on all things Alien and Predator for the diorama line._____________________________ ______________________

There aren’t any new Alien franchise products in the San Diego list, not from Sideshow anyway! Are you still doing Alien stuff?

We thought we’d give our new Predator 2 Diorama and the Species Maquette time to shine at SDCC. Have no fear, there’s plenty of Alien stuff in the works - in fact - Sideshow and ADI (Amalgamated Dynamics, Inc) have been hard at work on some VERY cool stuff for 2009. Stay tuned to SideshowCollectibles.com!

So, it sounds like this line is still going strong.
