Re: ANIME???

just out of curiousity, I have heard from different sources that cowboy bebop (my personal choice for best anime series) is actually not that popular in japan and rest of the asia, that's why there are so much fewer merchandise than other equally or less popular anime property (in the USA). Is this true?

ANIME LIVES!

I just bought a Tetsujin and a Black Ox from Bandai/Soul of Chogokin. Two robots from a Japanese 60ies Anime series.

Hope they arrive here tomorrow!

Got finally to watch 'The Castle of Cagliostro', The first directors work of MIYAZAKI. I've had the DVD for years, but since I'm not a big Lupin III fan, I've somehow ignored it. WRONG!!! This is a masterpiece! Well, it's a very nice anime, that's for sure, I can only recommend it.

And I'm pacing my way through 'Samurai7'. Very slow at the beginning, but it's getting better! Not that it's a bad series, far from it! Just a bit slow.

If you liked cagliostro, miyazaki also did 2 episodes of Lupin TV series. I think the name is wings of albatros. Its pretty rare now to find them but they are worth the hunt. I think that's miyazaki's first director works. Also, the future boy Conan (a very good series) is a another TV series part directed/designed by Miyazaki. (I think)

thanks for the heads up, but can't. Just got Mushishi (should arrive in a week or 2, can't wait :D ) and there is Boba Fett coming soon, so I'll have to let deathnote go for the moment till I got more funds.

Well, just keep in mind that these aren't due until August!

I just got Ginko myself. Nice figure! Now, if I could just track down the RAH308 version exclusive!

Yeah, I know, but there is the aliens powerloader coming soon too. I am so torn with all these cool 2007 1/6 figures. :D it certainly has been a great year so far.

I agree!

I really like the Medicom stuff a lot, so I had to choose based on what I like, and the Hot Toys Preds and Aliens figures lost out. I just canceled the Powerloader last week... can't get them all. :monkey2

I know exactly how you feel. All these up coming products from medi and HT are just driving me crazy. 2 iconic 80's figures, Kenshiro and Powerloader are totally havnig a little war in my mind. in the end, powerloader is just that little bit more attractive to me. (not to mention it comes with ripley :D )

Re: ANIME???

I did pick up another Edward Elric, when Southern Island had them so cheap on Ebay, I love that fig, it's always been one of my favs.

And I know with a doubt I'm pre-ordering "L" from DN, that fig just looks sooooo cool.

August can't get here soon enough...:monkey5

Re: ANIME???

So I DVR'd Voltron this morn on Cartoon Network, and I'm pretty stoked. I haven't seen a Voltron episode in years, and had no idea CN was running it now, I just happened by thier site yesterday... Oh the power of the internet.

VOLTRON!!! :chew

Yeah, both the Edward and Alphonse figures were outstanding! I was really surprised that Southern Island were selling them so cheap on eBay, but who knows how many Medicom actually produced...

Re: ANIME???

back from the dead.... i've been keeping up with the new naruto shipuuden (spell?) and its not bad. i just hate the way naruto has always been filmed.. they fill most of the episode with crap that wastes most of the time, but when it finally gets good the episode ends so you have to wait until next week's episode to see what happens.

Re: ANIME???

So when exactly (still August?) are the DN figures being released? Or is it another Medicom mystery? :monkey1

Re: ANIME???

My favorite cartoon when I was 5 was Battle of the Planets. I got to see it in 1980 on WLVI 56, The Boston Globe station, which also aired Voltron. FOX 25 out of Boston had Robotech and Starblazers.

Anime has always been my favorite type of cartoon (unless it's comedy, because nothing can touch American cartoons for that, except for the original Lupin III) mostly because of the art style, but mainly because of the type of stories it tells.

My favorite series now are Neon Genesis Evangelion (favorite work of art ever), Inuyasha, Xenosaga (would be nice to see two more seasons), Wolf's Rain, Samurai Champloo, and Cowboy Bebop.

For movies, Galaxy Express 999 has been a favorite since Cartoon Network ran it back in '98. Jin-Roh was awesome. So were Read or Die, Vampire Hunter D and Ninja Scroll. Ghost in the Shell put me to sleep, and I've seen Akira a couple times but I can't remember any of it.

I'm working my way through the entire run of Gatchaman, to be followed by Space Battleship Yamato. I've had a copy of the first season of Robotech for about 7 years, but my niece stole it from me when she was 2 and I've never been able to get it back. Also on my plate are Fate/Stay Night, Silent Mobius, Noir, Samurai 7, and Basilisk.

At the risk of painting a bull's-eye on myself, I'll also say that during the process of introducing my niece to great animation, I've managed to become a big fan of the 3rd season of Sailor Moon. Sakura Wars is pretty cool too.

Re: ANIME???

Never seen Cowboy Bebop. But I would like to, also never seen Basilisk, but heard alot of good things about it as well.

The new Appleseed Ex Machina is pretty darn good! And no, this isn't a necropost... this is the anime thread since there isn't a forum for it.
