Upto the last episode of FMA: Brotherhood & it's fantastic.

I have loved every minute of it, simply one of the best series I have ever watched, it's funny, action packed, well paced, great story & at times sad enough to make me well up.

I'm sad it's at the end.
Got the Movies & OVA Collection to go but I'm already wondering what to replace it with.

Hey guys, in case any of you weren't aware, Bandai Entertainment is closing up for good in November and all of their titles will go OOP. FUNimation has already picked up Akira, but the rest may be in limbo for a while. If you were on the fence about any Bandai titles, get off and get them or face scalper prices!

Here are some titles to keep an eye on, courtesy of WTK at the FandomPost forums...

Finished Count of monte Crisco anime version. It wasnt bad at all and the art direction is astounding.

I think I just got bit by the anime bug.

I don't usually watch anime, though I did watch a little Pokemon and YuGioh when they were popular and my sisters watched Sailor Moon,

but now that I'm 29, I can't believe that I'm becoming addicted.

And I blame NetFlix all the way!!! I'm late to the party and just got NetFlix about a month ago, mostly for "The Walking Dead" and the anime section caught my eye.

Even though anime hasn't been apart of my recent life, I've always liked the way anime was drawn.

Anyway, I figured I'd get the most out of my Netflix experience and try out some anime as well. An now I find my amazon account flooded with anime products. LOL!!! Again I blame Netflix

I finished watching High School of the dead and I'm currently watching Angel Beats.

Also I just bought off of Amazon:

High School of the Dead
Angel Beats
Stein's Gate
Spice and Wolf

:panic:

I've heard a TON of great things from Death Note. As far as the anime is concerned it's only available on DVD and not Bluray correct?

Are there no plans for a Bluray release? I don't want to buy the DVD just to find out it's coming on Bluray shortly after...

I haven't heard of a bluray coming out of Death Note. I check quite often because I would love to own it on Blu. Honestly I would just get netflix and watch it on their. AMazing series.

Netflix has been loosing alot of anime lately. They used to have a much better selection.

HOTD is great. I really hope we see a season 2 at some point. Angel Beats is a great anime also. I really wish it had a full 24-26 eps though. If you end up enjoying it I strongly recommend Clannad and Clannad: After Story.

I haven't had netflix in awhile but I still assume Death Note is on their. So even if you only get it for a month to watch Death Note $7.99>$50 It is the only anime that I watched on Netflix because most of the other ones are dubbed and I can't stand ****ty dubs.

It's actually not available on Netflix. :monkey2 And I would also love for it to be released on bluray but it seems my only option for the time being is dvd.

But I would rather own it on dvd as opposed to not at all you know. They made the live action death note on bluray but not the anime series. :dunno And I have no interest in the live action version.

Yeah like I said it's unfotunately not available on Netflix, but also something inside me wants to amass a physical anime collection for my shelf. I like physical collections.

HOTD was the first anime I watched on Netflix. And I LOVED it. I'm not going to lie to myself I'm well aware that part of the reason was the echhi and fan service, two anime terms I just learned LOL, but the action and classic zombie story, I though, was great. There is a good chance a second season will be made because the manga is returning in Spring so cross your fingers!!!

I'm hearing good things about Clannad but only Clannad After Story is available on Netflix and I don't want to start somewhere in the middle of the plot.

Should I just buy the box set blind?

Yeah supposedly there was supposed to be a HOTD season 2 already but got put on hold cause the tsunami that hit Japan a few years back.

As for Clannad, you can find full eps of season 1 on youtube last I checked.

Another anime I HIGHLY recommend is Claymore if you haven't seen it. Great serious anime with tons of gory action. If you like anime comedies, School Rumble is pretty good. Kind of a guilty pleasure of mine.

I watched the first episode of Clannad online and I quite liked it! I added it to my Amazon wishlist where i have 11 or 12 other series waiting.

I guess I have my hands full huh?!

Clannad is good but Clannad: After Story is better imho. I actually shed a few tears on that one. I won't spoil anything but the first season helps you build a connection with the characters which makes the events of After Story more powerful.

Another cool serious action anime is Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom. If you like gory animes with tons of nudity I'd recommend Elfen Lied if you haven't seen it but I warn you it is pretty violent and a lot of violence is towards younger characters. It's definitely not a kids anime.

If you haven't seen it then I cannot recommend Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood highly enough.

It's probably far & away my best anime series ever.

It's available on BD & looks gorgeous.

It's funny, well paced, well written & even the dub is very good on this one.

It's also punch you in the face sad...more than once I had a WTF moment & tears were more than welling up.

Some seriously hard moments.

I concur on HoTD, that's freaking sweet.
If you like Fan Service then Samurai Girls & Ikki Tousen would be 2 must haves as well ;)

For stuff that just goes on & on & never seems to end then look at Bleach it's great but ridiculously long at the moment.

Elfen Lied & Gantz are both also worth getting, both are particularly gory & Elfen Lied has it's fare share of hard parts to watch but both are worth adding to the list

I'll think some more & add anything else I can think of later

I've also seen the first episode or so of Elfen Lied. Liked it as well so we'll see. May buy the series done the road as well.

What's the difference between Full Metal Alchemist and Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood? Is Brotherhood the continuation of the original series?

FMA is up on Netflix but I didn't want to miss out if Brotherhood was something different...

Thanks for the info Darth Fatso and Neil!!!!!

Actually just did some research and found out that Brotherhood is a remake of the original FMA.

I think I'll buy the entire series on Bluray including the ova collection, but I just wanted to ask if you guys recommend or thought it was okay if I went straight to Brotherhood and passed over the original series at least for the time being. Is that fine?

Yeah FMA: Brotherhood is a remake of the original but apparently it stays more faithful to the Manga

I've only seen Brotherhood so unfortunately can't comment but based on what I've seen I would recommend just going straight for that.

The BD version is gorgeous BTW, I actually had to import the lot as in the UK we only got the first 14 Episodes on BD all the rest was on DVD & no way I could have only part in HD :)

Word of warning though the movies actually follow the original release & not Brotherhood so I'd recommend re-watching the original version before you get the 2 movies as they are set around points in the original that don't happen Brotherhood...I plan on doing that but it's finding the time at the moment that's becoming difficult.

You really won't be disappointed with FMA whatever version you see, it's head & shoulders above most Anime I've ever seen.

Cough cough. This version is far superior

I know it doesnt follow the manga, I know its not the original story but damn its just has more heart and is an all around better series than brotherhood.
I could care less about there father or winry, I care about ED and Al and thats what this series does. It focuses on them while also focusing on some of the secondary characters like Scar and mustang and it does it perfectly in the first series. IMO this is just all around better than Brotherhood. Even with the depressing ending.

Like I said I haven't actually seen the original so couldn't really compare the 2 I just went with what I've seen & Brotherhood is all kinds of awesome.

I am planning to watch the original version at some point though as I have the movies but as they follow the original series I can't watch them without first having seen the original.

The depressing ending is interesting though & I think I shall have to track down the DVD's sooner than anticipated :)

I actually agree! A lot of people seem to like Brotherhood better, but I was much more involved and moved by the original series! It could be because I saw it first and didn't know the story or characters and by the time Brotherhood came out, I had seen the first series at least 4 or 5 times. Brotherhood is fantastic, but the original series is better in my opinion.

Than watch it and you'll love it I guarantee. maybe not as much as brotherhood but you'll love it

Yea I watched the old series long ago but didnt know the whole story. Then when brotherhood came out I watched it and loved it, it was very good. So then I told myself i wanted to watch the old anime and compare and after i did I was surprised by how much emotional and compelling the original was and how the story was all around so much better.
I know that brotherhood has a better ending but honestly the original just does everything else right. The Homunculi were better, Scar was better and Mustangs struggle was much emotional since he was responsible for the death of the rockbells. If the first anime had brotherhoods ending then it would be the perfect anime.
