I think Gangnam Style should be put to rest now. It's getting worse than the Macarena.

The song was written years ago and the video only just recently came out. It becoming viral is the only reason anyone outside of South Korea knows who PSY is. Not that this is news, but if ever an example were needed to show how fudged up and superficial the music industry's gotten... here's a fresh one.

It's simple pop, nothing particularly compelling about it. Every other artist on the radio sounds like this.

Well, the popularity of this song is something that is of great significance to South Korea. It's the first time in pop history that a Korean singer has manage to achieve worldwide fame in music. Singers like Rain, Girls Generation, Hara, and many, many others have been trying for years to even reach a large U.S. audience to no avail. So, it's quite a feat that PSY has managed to achieve what no one else ever did with just one music video.

I know that there are some who don't like the song, the video or whatever and that's totally cool - feel free to discuss it lol. But, the thread itself isn't harming anyone or doing anything like trolling. So, just let it die naturally on its own as its popularity decreases over time (and it already has to a large extent). No need to say things like, "this is lame, let's move onto something else guys!". Those who feel that way can feel free to visit another thread (there are many on the forum) .

I don't think anything can be worse than the Macarina . But, yeah, Gangnam Style has gotten stale. It has had an amazing run, especially on the Internet with all of the parodies. But, I wonder how long it has left until the next new song takes over.
