:lol Ah yes oh course. I imagine in a couple years Ill start having kids and Im already terrified of what might happen to my collection! My only solution it seems would be to get a finger print and eyeball scanner installed outside of my iron fireproof, triple locked door. Yikes lol. Would love to see pics of those Takara Insecticons too, never had them as a child but always wanted them, especially Kickback.

Lol that would be the perfect plan :)
I'm hoping one day to have a proper Man Cave that I can display everything in away from little hands but I doubt that will happen tbh.
Still it's worth having everything now even if I can't display them for a while...better to have then have not (or have to pay Ebay prices in a few years time) ;) lol

Your wish is my command...I found the old pics I did when I first got them :)

I love the Insecticons...they were so totally different to everything that came before them.
I've always had a soft spot for them so when the Takara book version came up I needed to get them :)

They actually come from a folder I did years ago of all my TF toys at the time...

Been more MP's since then but that's the bulk of the collection these days

Very tempted to start selling up the Beast Wars stuff though.

Its not too bad collecting with children, just make sure your wife or the kids always have cooler stuff than you got. ie, put bigger cheese out to distract from your cheese. :lol

I have had almost zero problems with my daughter from birth to 7, but my wife has cabinets filled with her Disney stuff and she has always struggled to keep my daughter out of her collectibles. :yess:

Nice collection you got there and thanks for the pics. Seems the Takara bookstyle reissues have seriously gone up in price since the last time I bought one yikes!

I put stuff like MOTUC and retail TFs in reach, whereas anything vintage or high end is on upper shelves. :)

Her favourite stuff to grab is MOTUC Skeletor and those new Nickelodeon Turtles (I got the set of four). She'll grab the occasional Transformer too (usually Prime, Animated or FoC). Still too young to transform 'em, though. :)

Thanks Fury.
Looking forward to getting round to trying to set a display up one day...would like to get my RID Prime & Scourge out at some point as they are some of my fave figures from a few years back.

I hadn't looked at the Takara book's for a while & you're right they have shot up.
Think my Insecticons cost me something like £50 or £60 delivered when I got them.

Lol we should start up "collecting with kids 101" :)

First Step...

That's a pretty good idea tbh.
I think for a while though anything she could grab will be displayed sans weapons...too small & too much of a choking hazard.

:lol and I hear ya. I most likely wont be able to display my full collection until I purchase my first house which is still a couple of years away :monkey2. Collecting with kids 101 is a pretty good idea, this should be done. Some good suggestions so far! How many of the Takara reissues did you get?

Oddly enough the MP line has kind of curved my thirst to finish collecting the rest of my G1 wants. Whats weird is I started collecting the Hasbro commemorative/Takara reissues and so far in the last 5 years Ive bought Starscream,Sideswipe, Soundwave,Prowl,Smokescreen IN THAT ORDER! Weird I thought. The next two I want are Hound and the Insecticons. Could we see their MP's after MP-21 bumblebee? :panic: lol Ive wanted a Hound forever, never had him ever. I will be getting 3 of him to make up for lost time:lol

Lol We'll see if we can get collecting with kids 101 made a sticky somewhere ;)
Yeah my proper displays will start when we move into a bigger property which all being well should be this year.

I actually only have the 5 of the Takara versions (Prowl / Jazz / Skids / Tracks / Insecticons) for some reason I just never kept up with them much to my disgust :(
I have a few of the TRU Hasbro versions though (Prime / Magnus / Starscream / Skywarp / Hot Rod / Red Alert / Jazz / Skids)
I'd love to have Hound, Sideswipe & Smokescreen though but at the going rate for Hound there's little chance of that happening.

Lol that's the same as the MP release schedule...how weird ;)

I'd love Hound next that would be so sweet.
I'd also dearly love to see Takara tackle the Insecticons, MP scale proper versions would be awesome.

I mean to be fair where do Takara go with the Decepticon MP's after the probable Megs V2 for the original line up?
There's Shockwave which they might do, Reflector possibly or Devestator & I'm still not convinced they'll do a Gestalt so the Insecticons are all that's left really...oh I live in hope :)

Yeah, I've been pretty careful about that. I'm always watching her, too. :)

She seems to love to grab Skeletor's staff, a lot of the time... heh.

I could see an MP Hound coming for sure. Insecticons... not too sure. Maybe... I hope so, anyway. :)

Well, I think they'll do a new MP Skywarp and Thundercracker, but yeah. After Megatron and Galvatron, what more is there to do? Shockwave, almost certainly... but I'm not convinced Reflector or even the Insecticons are on the table. Either would be cool though.

I could honestly see them doing Cyclonus at some point, especially once Galvatron and Ultra Magnus are made. :)

Man, I should seriously think about selling all my Takara reissues... They're just sitting in boxes right now...

Lol always grabbing at something.
Think the display will look a little odd with no weapons...war toys with no means of fighting ;) lol

I reckon MP Hound is a given to be honest, he's always been popular enough & by all accounts the Mitsubishi License is in hand already so think he could be sooner rather than later.

I would love MP size G1 Insecticons.
I know FP had a good crack at them but they just weren't quite what I wanted, although if they turned up cheap enough I think I would still be having a set.

I would be surprised if they didn't do MP11 remolds for Warp & TC I think most people are crying out for them now.
I'm happy with my MP3 versions so not a must to me to be honest.

Shockwave would be great but again how well would it sell?
I know most people that want him have already gone for Quakewave & by all accounts he's awesome enough to be an official release anyway so perhaps Takara will skip him??

Cyclonus would be sweet though, he was always an awesome toy & the design would make an interesting MP

Other than that Scourge would need to be done so we can have both of Galvatrons generals

Then it's the triple changers & the Cone Heads & out of those I think possibly only the Cone Heads would be viable...think Triple Changers may be difficult at MP size??

Neil

I'm pretty much with you on every other point, but no way would Takara make a decision like that.

I know people love their Quakewave, but I'm certain Takara could come up with something better - more accurate design, colour, accessories, and - most important - better distribution. I doubt Quakewave made it to near as many outlets as an official MP figure - especially in Japan.

Besides, as we've been discussing - other than Megatron, and possibly Galvatron, what other big Decepticon heavy hitter is left? No one else is as popular as Shockwave. :)

As for other Decepticons, other those you guys already mentioned, I think the Coneheads would do well. I'd get them, but I'm a sucker for Decepticon jets. If they do make Galvatron I would think Cyclonus and Scourge would be good choices. I think the Insecticons would have a good shot. They really aren't too many others I can think of.

Running down the list of popular Decepticons

Astrotrain
Ramjet
Thrust
Dirge
Slipstream is gaing in popularity
Scourge
Cyclonis

then there are the Combiners/Gesaults.

There are others, that's just the one's I'd consider as "heavy hitters"

Some Second stringers
Runabout
Runamock
Lugnut
Blitzwing
Lockdown

Astrotrain and Blitzwing would be awesome if they could get them perfect in all 3 modes. I would love to see them tackle any of the combiners honestly.

Sure (well, except for Slipstream), but none are as heavy a hitter as Shocky. :)

I don't know that tripchangers would be any harder, but they sure would be great in MP scale. :yess:

Just recently Picked up a Hasbro TRU Exclusive MP-10 Optimus prime off Ebay for $250.00 shipped a bit pricey for my taste but I am overall very happy with the Figure only complant is the damn chest doors have a small gap when in robot mode. Even took the matrix out thinking that was the problem but nope still has a gap. Im going have to remove the pins and sand down the problem area.

Also snagged up a TRU MP-02 Soundwave dude is BAD @$$ as all hell. The little minions are kick butt too. Going to pick up a MP-12 Lambor aka Sideswipe & MP-11 Starscream when I can.

Given how Takara have been sticking to the consistent scaling since MP10 I think Masterpieces of most Triple Changers and combiners would present huge problems for the designers unless they can invent actual mass shifting technology and implement it into the toys.

The only Triple Changer that could just about work is Springer and I'm guessing that's the most likely to be made due to his prominence in the cartoon from the '86 movie onwards.

Most combiners have much the same issue....if a Masterpiece one happens I can't see it being anyone other than Devastator.

Black_Dragon003,
Be careful when going for MP12 as KO's have emerged recently that are being sold on ebay as the real thing. I think someone posted some pics of the differences a few pages back.

MP11 is going for silly money at the moment but there's a decent chance that Takara may do a second run at some point so it may be worth waiting.

I had the same feeling with the Triple Changers.
To make them fit with they will require some serious tooling.
I can't see Astrotrain or Blitzwing being particularly easy & that's even before you start thinking about Octain.

Springer would be good but if they are going down the '86 & onwards route then we definitely need Kup & a redesigned Hot Rod as well

Black_Dragon,

Like Corsair said watch out for the KO's of Sideswipe & Red Alert.
Ebay is prolific with them at the moment but they can be quite easy to spot.
An original should go for £70+ ($100+) where as the KO's are generally around the £30 ($45) mark
Also stick to well known sellers like Toy Spark as they will only deal in originals.

Pay the extra it's worth it to ensure you get an official release.

Have seen that the coin for MP17 Prowl has been shown...
