debating whether or not to get the MP soundwave - don't have any MPs yet but got the 3 datsuns on preorder that i'm excited about.. hmm whether to splash on mp13 or to get a genuine g1 80s transformer for the same price

Do it!!!!!!!!!

He is a bargain even at £120
I paid over twice that for the Takara versions

If you have the Datsuns on order then I'd guess you have a passing interest in the MP's so you need Soundwave in the line up :)

I'm of the opinion now that original G1 figures just don't cut it at the price they seem to have shot up to
I appreciate they are the original & the best & if I still had them I'd display them but paying the price to re-buy them to display these days when the MP line is available seems a bit silly

I'd go along with this, the G1 originals and reissues have their nostalgic appeal of course but if it's a choice between barely articulated bricks or another Masterpiece from the rebooted line then for me it'd be MP13 all the way.

It's worth getting MP13 just to see the incredible design of Laserbeak.

Soundwave's great too but wouldn't have been as much of a challenge from a design standpoint as he basically turns into a big box.

Laserbeak would have been very tricky due to the small scale that the designer had to work with.

That he managed to get it to look so close to the animation model, incorporate the weapons without partsforming, work in the little spy camera and have all that fold into a tape mode that was more or less the same size as the G1 original has made the mold one of the very best in Transformers history and Masterpiece Ravage isn't too far behind.

Master customizers, modders and kitbashers!! I come to you, seeking knowledge and guidance! Please help me, a mere mortal, for i lack the powers and abilities you all wield with such flawless perfection!!!

I have the dotm leader class sentinel prime. I loved his character and appreciated that optimus' former mentor, is a powerful warrior that unfortunately lost his way in hopes of restoring his planet and race. It's not compelling story telling, but what he represented and almost accomplished made him a bad@$$. Plus, he's pretty powerful.

That being said, as nice as the toy is, he is a bit underwhelming. Too back heavy, articulation is limited, and the paintwork leaves a lot to be desired.

Now, on the flip side. I also have takara tomys amazing DMK01 optimus. I just love the kit. Of all the toys released of him so far, DMK01 comes the closest to reproducing his sleek look in the film. Yes, transformation is gone, but for pure asthetics, he's a knockout. I've hated the fact that TT stopped at DMK02 bumblebee and wondered why they couldn't continue on with this series. DMK ironhide? oh wow. DMK megatron? Oh heavens. DMK sentinel?
Holy shizzle!

So I thought about this for a while. Since TT are too stupid to realize they are sitting on a goldmine, I pondered the idea of making my own custom DMK kit.

Lets say I purchased a DMK01 body/frame. And lets say I dismantled sentinels body and stripped all of his armor off...is it possible, or a good idea, to basically attach those parts to the frame ala model kit?

OP and SP ae roughly the same size and height. Although I've heard some say sentinel is bigger...but nothing I've seen in the film would suggest that.

So master customizers, modders and kitbashers...doth my idea haveth possibility?

Does anyone know if the takara reissues of the insecticons have the same die cast metal parts as the original transformers? I.e. the original kickback had a die cast torso...
I know the toys r us versions are almost entirely plastic with the exception of screws or pins...

I've got the Takara versions but much to my own disgust they have never been out of the box :(

They are in storage at the mo but if I can get them out this week I'll have a look & let you know if you want?

No problems.
I wasn't intentionally keeping them MISB it just happened that way TBH.
I had planned on getting most of the re-issues & then setting up a display but space never became available & as such they are all still that way.

I'll see if I can get there & have a look.

Could do with getting to the Storage unit anyway...need to dig out my MP's for a quick tally up.

Lol I'd love too.

Problem is we have a 1 bedroom flat with next to sod all room & a 15 month old little girl who currently is into everything so until we move into a bigger place later in the year then the best place for them is in storage :monkey2:monkey2

I shall get some pics of the family all together though as soon as I can just so we can all admire the boxes together ;) :rotfl:slap:slap

:lol Ah yes oh course. I imagine in a couple years Ill start having kids and Im already terrified of what might happen to my collection! My only solution it seems would be to get a finger print and eyeball scanner installed outside of my iron fireproof, triple locked door. Yikes lol. Would love to see pics of those Takara Insecticons too, never had them as a child but always wanted them, especially Kickback.
