That Megatron looks almost perfect, aside from the somewhat short legs. I'm just worried about who's making it. X-Transbots doesn't have the best QC track record, and that will be critical with this one.

X-Transbots are not Takara, MMC, Fans Toys or Fansproject.

Their QC record with smaller, less complex designs isn't good enough to justify blindly ordering something as complex as that Megatron based on an early prototype.

This could be another Kronos in the making, lots of hype, but an end product that's ultimately a turd.

Hey man, don't rain on the parade! If the quality sucks then many folks (self included) are going to cancel en masse, but the fact that an awesome looking MP-styled Megs can be made, and at least will be made in some capacity is cause for celebration dammit! I actually hope Takara pulls a Soundwave and pushes one out before this one can even be produced, but they've dragged their feet this long, so I'm not going to assume that they will do it at all.

if it's GREAt ( like quakewave) it will forever mark them as a great, reliable company.

megs is too high-profile to screw up. too many people are gonna buy this guy.

Appolyon looks nice, but come on, guys - you really don't think a Takara one will come eventually (and be better)?

Even if that never happens, some other third party will tackle it and do a better job, I'm sure. There's just something a bit off about this... Not nearly as bad as the impression I got from Kronos, but... I don't know. Maybe it's just the aesthetic for me. Too many toy elements visible in bot mode, or something like that.

Who knows, though. I might change my mind. I did with Quakewave, and more recently Bad Cube's Brawny, which I finally preordered.

Also locked in my order for MP-11SW. Pricey... but damn, I'm not going to miss out if this turns out to be our only chance!

Recently picked up ToyWorld Hegemon. Despite a few minor issues I have with him like slightly loose joints, I like him quite a bit. Barring scale I like him better than that XTransbots Megs. Theirs just looks a bit off proportion wise to me. Even though the legs aren't G1 accurate, Hegemon for my money is still the best transforming Megatron around.

Yeah looks way better than TFC's dude imo. Although I guess TFC's looks a lot more like the G1 figure. For me though that's not what I'm looking for in terms of updated TFs.

I've mixed feelings on whether the bulk of the design will be significantly better when we eventually see Takara's second attempt at Megatron but there could be some little thing that makes a huge difference to the smoothness of the transformation or something like that and I think the build quality being acceptable is a much safer bet than with X-Transbots so I think I'll end up waiting.

I managed to find a slightly cheaper option on Skywarp and have paid a £25 deposit to secure one. If I miss this one and Takara then do MP-11T ie Thundercracker I'll probably regret missing the opportunity to complete the original trio with the MP11 mold.

Brawn and Outback are still on the radar although for now a couple of other things take priority as I still have the rest of FT Swoop and Ultra Buttflap to pay for.

Almost forgot, KO's of Masterpiece Ratbat are now starting to show up on ebay for $20. Not sure of the quality as I've not read any in hand reports yet but at that price it might be worth a go.
