What's wrong with it man, I was gonna get him. Saw him at the store today, and he looked pretty cool in the box.

Well, he feels rickety and none of his modes look very good, basically. I just wasn't very impressed, but you should feel free to make up your own mind about him. I will say that when I was talking to a TF-collecting friend about the new classics, I said something like "stay away from Tankor" and he said that he had already bought it and regretted it.

Exactly, which is why I personally don't like them. Give me regular figures any day of the week over a statue...Though I wouldn't mind a movie Prime statue done by Sideshow.:naughty

I like both which is why I have both types of items in my collection.

Not an offical Mugg but you get the idea.

Is that Mugg a custom?

Yes. A friend of mine at one of the TF boards made it.

He used some kind of Mugg-type figure from Japan as the base but I don't know which one.

Its not used a Mugg type figure from Japan :lol. Its using a simple Kid Robot Munny.

The med level ones are about $20, the smaller $10 and the ultra large ones are $100. They are sold at Urban Outfitters as well as online. My wife loves these and has gotten pretty good at them, here is her Harry Potter about 90% finished:

They are where Hasbro got their Mighty Mugg idea from when Kid Robot hosted a celebrity and artist Munny competition and artshow a few years back and they really got into the spotlight.

I wonder if she'd be willing to take a crack at Prime...she is working on Iron Man right now...

Back to TF. These are images from an upcoming Graphic Novel but I love the look of them:

It's definitely the weakest of the new molds. I really hate that "giant comb of doom" that he wields and it says a lot for the (lack of) quality in the design when the 25 year old G1 Octane has better looking vehicle modes.
The same is also true of Classics/Henkei Astrotrain though the Henkei version does benefit from an awesome paintjob.
If Hasbro/Takara make a new Blitzwing or one of the Autobot Triple Changers I hope they are better executed.

Sorry. I don't know any thing about these kinds of figures.

He said it was some kind of plain VCD-type figure so I assumed it was Japanesse.

I disagree. Astrotrain is IMO better than his G1 version. The G1 train mode had too many "shell" parts that are horrible. The new version is much better in all modes.

Never heard of them... but as my sig can attest to I want to know more.:naughty

It's a "What if" 'sequel' to the Transformers movie, in which Starscream abuses the situation to rise to power. VERY excellent read, with Starscream being at the top of his game, even with that lackluster design. Give it a try man, it really is one of the best comics that IDW has ever put out, along with Spotlight Ultra Magnus, Shockwave, Kup and Wheelie (loved that last one, excellent art and even better writing).

Well today I found the Universe line, which I am completely satisfied with. I'm going to get Prowl's stickers from Reprolabels, that way he will look more G1. These rock. And I liked Octane (screw "Tankor", stupid licensing issues) myself. Good for a triplechanger. Not as good as Astrotrain mind you, but good.

And I scored the Animated Leader class Megatron. One sweet figure. :rock

I just picked up Animated Grimlock. Absolutely love it, never got him as a kid and this is a nice make up for it.

I had the following arrive in the post in the last couple of days,

Henkei Starscream
Henkei Hot Rod
(Takara once again show Hasbro how to paint TF's and make great molds look even better)

Henkei Astrotrain
(I wasn't the biggest fan of this mold but now I've got it in hand it's grown on me a bit and like most of the Henkei line the color scheme is excellent.)

Universe Prowl
(A great mold that's only real drawbacks are the cheap looking wheels and bland detailing in robot mode. It'll look better when the reprolabels I ordered arrive and I've done some additional paint work on the missile launchers.)

WST Soundwave
(Fun item that includes the smallest TF ever in Ravage)

Justitoys, the makers of the World's Smallest Dinorobots have revealed their next 3 releases and they are set to be Shockwave,Blaster and Wheeljack.
Given the status of the regular sized Shockwave mold (legal issues over who owns it) and also Wheeljack's (said to be lost) it'll be intresting to see if they can get away with these without Hasbro or Takara putting a stop to them.
