Primus02MS.jpg

No second page!!!!

And to hoping this figure gets made some day!!!!

Wasn't what he said...

It's about as close as you can get for a toy.

I don't see Primus as being popular enough to warrant a revisit.

did I hear some where that sideshow was trying to get the license for transformers to do collectables? someone asked it at sdcc I think, and hasbro said no comment. they have GI joe and star wars already, why not give the collectable license to them as well. maybe then we would get more than one new masterpiece mold every 3 years. anyone else think sideshow could do well with a 12 inch line? think it would be anything like the masterpieces from takara?

Hell no. It took Sideshow 3 years and a considerable amount of help from Hot Toys to make new 1/6 base bodies and armored SW figures so do you seriously expect them to engineer something as complex as a Masterpiece Transformer mold any quicker or more importantly better than Takara who have years of experience?

Should they get the license I think it's more likely that it'll be to make PF's,busts and statues rather than actual Transformers and a good thing too because IMO that's where Sideshow really excel.

I don't know anything about sideshows work. I don't buy sideshow stuff, the GI joe will be the first thing I ever buy that is sideshow. could the engineer transformers? maybe with the help of hasbro they could, I think they would need to collaberate with someone but who knows. I'd like to see some other company take a crack at it, cuz at takara rate, we'll never get a good amount of master pieces from them. we need grimlock, prowl, sideswipe and sunstreaker, Ironhide and wheeljack. then there's soundwave, shockwave, constructicons, plus so much more. if Sideshow could some how produce 60 or 70 dollar versions of these characters, i'm sure it would be that cheap because they are based here in the US and wouldn't need to import, I would probably buy all of them. I dislike hasbros figures and takara just takes to damn long inbetween it's releases. thank god they don't have any more seeker repaints to do, the original three are made, we don't need anymore, they can go on to the next mold.

There's no way Sideshow could engineer actual transformers, and certainly not for 60 to 70 dollars.

i dunno, I don't know much about SS. but if hasbro can release MP starscream for 40 bucks, why wouldn't some other company be able to do the same? either way, how cool would that be? It makes me sad to wait so long between the MP releases. for me, there the only ones actually worth my money, the toys are nice, but they just don't look good enough to display among the things that I have, not like the MPs. am I the only one that really thinks there's to much time between the MP releases, new molds i'm talking about, I don't buy repaints of the MPs.

A Takara rep at this year's Botcon said that Masterpiece Grimlock is in the very early stages of production so there's one that can be struck off your list.
Also the reason the Hasbro Starscream cost so little was because Takara let them use their molds. If they hadn't done this Hasbro would have had to spend a large sum making their own which would have been reflected in the final price.

I kinda agree with what you are saying about the slowness of Takara's releases and the number of repaints is annoying though given the cost of the molds somewhat justifiable but it's asking a bit much to expect a company with zero experience in making such toys to do a quicker or better job than one with years of doing so,even a partnership would be pretty one sided as if SSC's team have never done anything like that how could they really contribute?.

I'm not saying a partnership with another company would be impossible but if Takara chose to do so it would either be Hasbro or one of the other Japanese companies with experience in making a similar product,Sideshow's area of expertise is things like statues, busts or Premium Format figures, none of which require the degree of engineering that a transforming robot toy requires.

Sigh... I was thinking about selling all my Transformers animated figures. Somebody talk me out of it :(

With all the stuff from Sideshow coming, and me wanting to go back and get all the Takara G1 reissues, not sure i'll have room for them anymore.
