the best part of all that is all the "hastak" fan boys that are so anti 3p and love to go on these rants are really just wasting their breath as the hastak designers are pseudo in teams w/ the 3p guys... which has been somewhat known for a while now... but still comical nonetheless.

:goodpost:

It's almost like they're being grown ups and sharing their enjoyment of the subject matter instead of engaging in pointless pissing contests....a shame the fandom can't be more like that.

I'm surprised hastak employees would help the 3rd party designers. Wouldn't that be a conflict of interest and grounds for firing? I mean, I suppose from the PoV of the employees is that they get to help with the design process for characters hastak don't consider to be priority? Therefore itching that desire to produce a certain character? However, I think it's a dangerous line they're dancing on...unless I missed something here. Can anyone go more in depth with it?

I'm sure there is some merit to all of this. I think HasTak designers get bored with the funding restraints of retail release figures. 3p is not contrained, so these designers can provide ideas as to if HasTak allowed making whatever they wanted the way they wanted if money was not a factor.

I just got MMC Spinx/Mirage. All I have to say is it's wonderful. I love the clean transformation, the good use of die cast, the quality of plastic. If HasTak ever releases a Mirage I wouldn't feel the urge to buy due to already having a masterpiece.

soundwave,
Congrats on the haul! :clap

My MMC Inferno arrived the day after FT Hound so I had a decent couple of arrivals last week as well.

Thanks man, I'm super chuffed with the arrivals :)

Interested to hear your thoughts on MMC Inferno.
I'm still happy with Hellfire & think Inferno looks a little skinny but would be nice to hear how you feel.

Couldn't agree more on both points there Sphinx is a masterpiece & ranks as one of my best figures in my collection, he is just so glorious.

I also agree on the point of no need to go to Takara if they ever release a version...in fact I now about 5 3P figures that I have little to no interest in replacing with Takara versions as I really cannot see how they could better what's already available.

I will happily support official products but not when a 3P effort is already available & at a quality that is on par (and in some cases can even surpass) with what Takara can produce.

Endosickness,

That is stunning, looks utterly brilliant & something I'd aim to do with my figures if I could ever get them out on display lol

You really showcase just how good the CW Devatstator is as a masterpiece stand in...to my eye he fits so well in scale & look that for the price he's almost a no brainer if you want Devastator in your displays.

Congrats again on the display & your pictures are great.

I'm still buying Takara MP's, but slowly getting into 3P figures. I have Gigapower Chrome Guttur, FansToys blue Soar, and now Sphinx.

Love the Mondo along with how you lined up side for battle. Having Rumble:wink1: jump out in mid transformation of Sound Waves chest is a great idea.

Congrats man:hi5:

Believe it or not, that song was co-written by the guitarist of the Go-Gos and the singer of Fun Boy Three/the Specials!

That's too funny! I went and YouTubed the gogo's video after watching that one you posted. Amazing what people thought was cool back in the day! Lol

Thx, Neil. :hi5:
I needed a good display. Just normally lining them was nothing for me. All figures have just to great articulation an I wanted to that with Soundwave even before I got him, which was just a week ago. I just used some twisties. They come in really handy for that.

Thx, dude. :hi5:
It's not the original. I found a good resolution online and sent that to a print shop. Would've love to have that original, but the prices are unreal...

Endo - kick *** pics! Love seeing Frenzy jumping out of Soundwave. So badass!!

Thx, man. :hi5: :wave

Same here. Love the truck front on this. Devastator will look badass once I'm done with him...

At the risk of sounding like an "evil 3rd party shill" :wink1:

I think MMC Inferno is fantastic.

The realistic approach is of great benefit to the fire truck mode and there's some nice details all over. I especially like how the robot arms are hidden and the cab interior is a great throwback to Alternators which is capable of fitting either Takara's human figures or ( with a squeeze ) the Dr Wu Sparkplug & Spike.

Transformation is very straightforward, I did most of it from memory after watching a couple of video reviews a couple of weeks back and only referred to the instructions on a couple of occasions. It might be a bit harder going back to fire truck mode as there's quite a few tabs that have to be lined up but I've not tried that yet.

Robot mode looks fine to me, the original toy was always slightly lanky compared to other carbots so I'm fine with it and the aesthetic fits perfectly with the Hasui era figures. The range of poseability is up there with the best, particularly in the legs & feet.

The self contained swap between hose hand and proper hand works pretty well although both parts can pop out of their mounting if you're not careful but it's only a mushroom peg so they're easy enough to put back into place.

Of the two heads I'm sticking with the toy one. The cartoon one is just as well done, but not really what I'm looking for.

Build quality is what I've come to expect from MMC, I think they're on a par with Fans Toys. As with any release there's been a few dodgy ones reported but mine has no paint or joint issues and he's very solid.

I did consider getting Make Toys Grapple just to have a different mold and the two go together really well but I think I'll stick with MMC for both characters.

One final thing worthy of mention is the packaging. Whoever decided that MMC's Ocular Max range would be a homage to the original Diaclone packaging made an awesome decision as it stands out in the best possible way....you even get a tech spec reader in the box!

I have done some pics but my computer is playing up atm and isn't allowing me to upload anything from my camera :gah:

I just preordered Skywarp from TFS, I also have an order with BBTS as backup. I was considering dropping more than $350 on the first release of Skywarp, needless to say I'm glad I didn't. I also canceled my order for the KO.

Whosoever repped: Big thx. :rock :hi5:

No problem, buddy. :hi5:

Congrats, mate. :duff I preferred Backdraft to both Hellfire and Dante and it would've been my Inferno if not for the Takara release.

Thanks! :hi5:

With the way the pound has gone since the Brexit vote the official Inferno is around £35 more than Backdraft....that £35 can go towards Cheetor and I also have issues with the cartoon aesthetic of the official one so it was never an option but I hope you enjoy it all the same.

Here's some pics,

Note to self: Must get some more white backed Autobot logos.

yeah he def looks good in those pix! half tempted to pick him up since it's looking like it'll be about $40 cheaper than the hastak one...
