They're releasing a new VF-19? I only came across Macros toys recently and have been holding out for the Bandai VF-19 at a decent price.

They released one...2 years ago I think?? It was the VF-19A. From bandai. It was glorious. Some areas they did better than Arcadia and Arcadia did better in some areas. And just in case you don't know about it:

https://anymoon.com/blog/?p=8151

Boom baby! I don't know if they're gonna re-release it. But I think I remember reading somewhere that bandai are gonna retool their VF-19A and release it as the Yf-19.

So there may be hope yet.

Oh and I love the backstory they gave to the VF-19A.

Beautiful! That's the one that has been on my eBay searches for several months now, and if I had to pick just one Valkyrie out of the figures released, that would be it. That said, I've also heard that Bandai is planning a 1/35 VF-1—I would prefer that, if it ever sees the light of day. Gorgeous mold, LEDs and, most importantly, a glorious 14 inches tall in Battroid mode.

At that size, I could display it next to my MPP10 and pretend Jetfire got a sweet new paintjob :wink1:

A 1/35? What?

Sweet!

Edit, apparently, from the SoC line from bandai. Doesn't look like it can transform, but one never knows. This thing is glorious if they release it!

Ahhh yes, that 1/35 Vf looks damned sweet.

I think it does transform. And yeah bro, it will be glorious either way.

Holy **** dude! This changes everything! I'm also waiting on that Roy Foker movie version from arcadia, but hate how ****ing expensive they are! Seriously, I do appreciate the engineering and all that (altough to be honest, I think the wizards at TT has them beat in that regard) but at almost $300 for each 1/60 Valk. is truly insane. I can't even fathom how much this guy will cost if is indeed from the chogoking line. Jesus ****ing christ.

But you know what? I have to have it, it's just one of those things. Much like the Ultimetal TF line, gotta catch em all.

And on that regard, anyone here playing Pokemon Go?

Yeah Arcadia REALLY knows how to hurt your wallet. It's insane. Not to mention the BS that fans of macross outside of Japan have to jump through to secure a valk. I hate how how tough it is to get one. They sell out so fast.

And once again...living in China...it was so easy to get them valks...

I'm interested in PGO. Apparently it's doing amazingly well.

Damn, I wish I didn't see that - looks awesome. Right now I'm focusing on the Hi-Metal R line and also have the Arcadia 1/60 VF-1S Focker on order. I don't think I can resist a 1/35 in my Macross collection.

Grenadier arrived yesterday :)
I now have a full collection of FT Insecticons at last :)

I have had a fairly bumper June & July & took a sneaky pic of my current arrivals (DC Bombshell statue added just because I got her today too) & I'm quite pleased with how the collection has built up in less than a month ;)

Don't know if people saw this, but a podcast had a two hour long round table with Dr Wu. Some super interesting stuff and insights into how the 3rd party industry functions.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZZI5HrA8ik

Summary:

HasTak is directly competing with 3P by releasing MPs every month.

Not direct competition, but the 3rd party scene showed them that the market was there after all.

Keith owns everything.

Not everything, but a good few companies.

There are only about four people running all third party companies.

Used to be the case, but there are more now. Venksta said it's closer or over 10. The ones who feel similar in style/presentation (like Generation Toys/Tranformission/Warbotron) are from groups of friends who decided to do their own thing, but still work together. Same with Fans Project/Maketoys

Talk of a "middleman" who distributes to Asia who bullies all third parties. All American companies get their stock from him.

This may be Robot Kingdom, who also don't carry MMC, Maketoys or Fans Project products because they refused to play ball (which is why PSX was set up by MMC affiliates). But it also might be an entirely different entity/individual, who is also responsible for the high prices of 3rd party items. An example was that this middleman is why a figure that would normally cost 15$ to produce and sell is sold for 30$, to maximize profits for this distributor.

There is a LOT of drama behind the scenes.

Spinout was a POS on purpose. There's another Sunstreaker coming out soon and Spinout's manufacturing was sabotaged to appear inferior.

Quality issues are usually caused by bad assembly team (designs are too complicated for them to understand) or rushed mold process.

Dr. Wu goes to the factory himself to supervise assembly of his products.

Dr. Wu (the person) doesn't get along with Keith. He is also a real doctor.

HasTak like to show up at third party factories. They also like to talk with the 3P designers and share ideas.

They share factories! That leads to hasbro designers meeting and talking with 3P figures. HasTak also uses 3P as inspiration, and some employees have also done anonymous freelance work for one or multiple 3P projects.

HasTak had a MP Bruticus in the works for the Year of the Decepticon, one Combaticon every other month. This was canned.

The change in designers led to a mass delay of planned items, but also changes in products. Magnus is the most well known victim of this, but Bumblebee and Takara also had their original (Hasui?) designs changed/scrapped. Because of this delay, though, the Combaticons were pushed back from 2014 to 2015, and eventually cancelled all together.

Galvatron was planned for 2015, but was messed up because of Takara's designer.

Same as above, change in designers caused the delay in production. The original (Hasui?) design may or may not have been scrapped.

Designs for 3P figures are purposefully sabotaged so that upgrades can be made later to make more money.

Some companies do this, but only a minority.

3P has inside info on new Takara releases, usually because of Takara employees blabbing.

EDIT: Several people affiliated with 3rd party companies chimed in on the TFW thread on which of these points was accurate. Added the extra info in bold.

....my mind is blown on so many different levels. The one part that got me real good was the hastak talking with, sharing with as well as helping 3P.

It feels wrong...like...incest. That is INSANE.

And who is Keith? I didn't watch the vid, but from reading the summary, Why does he sound like a...triad boss?

Keith is the head of KFC and (iirc) owner of X-Transbots.. He owns a number of factories that various 3P companies have their stuff produced at. So he has a lot of say and stuff, and is disliked because of it.

Wow....I don't know a thing about him, but to me he sounds like a complete d*****nozzle.

soundwave,
Congrats on the haul! :clap

My MMC Inferno arrived the day after FT Hound so I had a decent couple of arrivals last week as well.

Very happy with both and may be getting an extra Inferno as the alt mode is so much fun :)

Ra88,
Intresting stuff, particularly about Hasui's plan had he stayed as lead designer.

Given the choice, a Hasui designed combiner on an MP budget would have been much more appealing to me than what we actually got after the change.

If true I'd also be intrested to know exactly what 3rd party figures had Takara designers work on them.

Thank you for the video link. I will watch it later. This is a very interesting topic, and I have heard the same about Keith sub contracting his factory to other companies, and then providing inferior plastic to sabotage the clients product.

the best part of all that is all the "hastak" fan boys that are so anti 3p and love to go on these rants are really just wasting their breath as the hastak designers are pseudo in teams w/ the 3p guys... which has been somewhat known for a while now... but still comical nonetheless.

Or I guess similarly, all the 3rd party fanboys who seem to hate everything official should feel SHAME!

Also all the funboys from Fun Boy Three should feel shame.
