This megs? Trash! Not worth the asking price! Back kibble! Sad!

Re: MP-36 Masterpiece Megatron

Finally had a chance to take photos of MP-36 Megatron. I'm completely blown away by this figure, who's shot right to the top of my list of all-time favorite figures. The engineering, not just in transformation but articulation & poseability, is second to none for Takara-Tomy. He really does make MP-10 Prime and MP-11 Starscream look like they're from another world; I'd love to see a Starscream figure that was as kibble-free, cartoon accurate & articulated (complete with waist swivel & ab crunch?) as MP-36.

The other thing that makes MP-36 such a joy is the bottomless pit of accessories, allowing for countless different display options. And the way the gun stalk doubles as a flight stand allows you to really take advantage of the poses this figure can achieve. And all of that articulation would be worthless were it not for how sturdy he is; the ratcheted joints assure he can strike a pose and keep it. Even the way the hands are engineered is brilliant. And the way the legs collapse & transform? Pure witchcraft.

I would have preferred his grey paint be the same as Prime's trailer or Soundwave's legs, as he can look overly dark especially in low-light environments, but at least they painted him at all (instead of leaving the grey parts bare plastic like the very disappointing Shockwave). But there's no doubting the amount of love Takara-Tomy put into this release; MP-36 Megatron is easily the best of the Masterpiece series yet. I'm so glad such an important character received such a worthy release.

Here's some pics I took.

Also, how badly do we need real Masterpiece Constructicons/Devastator now?

I don't own a single TT Transformer figure. I've come close multiple times to buying Optimus and Starscream while in shops, but never bit. My love of original Gen Transformers(and Toys Alliance offerings lol) are what bring me over to this thread. These pictures make me want to start collecting. Great shots.

if you get a spare few bucks, you should look into upgrading your devy w/ the DNA kit... those pics you posted way back is what convinced me to pick him up... and that add on kit really does so much to improve him!

Nice! But I'm hoping a true Masterpiece set of Constructicons comes some day from Takara-Tomy, at which point I'd sell the Unite Warriors set to make room :)

yeah it would be interesting to see how big the set would be! i know fanstoys has hinted at a picture in their omega supreme showing the outline of devy so i'm sure we'll see something soon scale wise. gotta be a massive figure when the companies start to tackle it!

Based on how they scaled Megatron, and that Unite Warriors Devastator is 18", I feel like a true Masterpiece scale Devastator would have to be no less than 20" but no more than 24". I think Toyworld's Devastator has it about right in that regard.

(not my photo)

yeah that works out to about right if fans toys sticks to the outline size they show next to omega supreme. they have him (omega) at around 60+ cm which is around 24 inches and devy looks projected to be the same size... so should get a good gauge when omega releases.

Got my Destron Leader yesterday. Looks awesome. Orange plug seems to be in very tight...still need to work on that. Why does the box have a "Long Life Design" logo on the front? Hadnt' seen that before.

They won an award, so basically bragging rights. It looks like it'll be that way from now on. Or at least until they get the "best Megatron ever made beats everything else" award.

Just got mine today it's like a dream come true for me
with my dad buying me the first ever megaton in 1984 or 85 which was absolutely garbage and it broke after 2 weeks
to this today, it's only took them 33 years.

Congrats guys! It's the best MP release, ever. Just take your time and enjoy!

Best MP ever??
Not really convinced he is freaking beautiful though...got my obe last week & I take back everything I ever doubted about him he is an utter masterpiece
Still like the 3P efforts but this ticks boxes they missed by a long shot

Not attempted to transform mine yet & tbh not sure I will but I am in love with him

I gotta agree with franpincho there. From cartoon accuracy to articulation to engineering to accessories to the multitude of display options, Megatron is the best Transformers Masterpiece figure yet. Not perfect, but they really pulled out all the stops.

That is weird. Why does BBTS require the plug and TFSource doesn't? I got one from both and was expecting the plug on both.

One thing though, TFS sent and email warning people to be very careful when transforming the figure and what parts are the most vulnerable to paint chipping.

Also warning that there are no replacement parts if there is damage due to mistransforming.
