In classic Hasbro form, the two promotional photos they took & the figure they had on-hand at the event are missing a bunch of the paint apps and proper transformation compared to the photography used on the product packaging, which I'm sure was done by Takara-Tomy. So just like Bumblebee, we'll have to wait for Takara's additional photography to know what it's supposed to look like. And then like Bumblebee, we're gonna have to wait until release to see which version of the figure they actually produce: the Takara version with extra paint, or the half-assed version Hasbro's showing.

There's in hand images of it at TFW2005, albeit, it is still badly mistransformed. It looks a lot like they used the design of the leader class ROTF Prime figure and made it better for this Masterpiece version. I don't like Bayformers either, but I have to say the design and engineering of some of the movie toys is pretty impressive. Leader ROTF Prime is still one of my top Hasbro Transformers, and those Human Alliance figures were pretty neat too. The newer toys have taken a step back in complexity, which I can understand since it's marketed towards kids, but those earlier toys made me appreciate how much Transformers toys have evolved from the 80's.

Yikes. I'm actually "ok" with the movie designs but this seems pretty all over the place.

Indeed, lol.

Yea, the whole chest/torso area makes him like a tub of lard, but I think that's because it's not transformed correctly, plus the ab area is actually part of the front of the truck and not a fill in part like the leader figure. There's plenty of in hand pics on TFW2005, it does not look as bad as the official images.

His back looks very clean - the trailer hitch ends up in it's movie-accurate place. This is still transformed incorrectly; the red parts (rear wheel covers in truck mode) dangling in this photo should tuck away better based on the box photography, and both blue shoulder panels would sit flush like his right one is.

One really cool feature is that the mechanism for changing the face from battlemask to Lipsimus Prime is built into the head, and he has the Matrix of Leadership.

Ugly photo but yeah that's better. Smokestacks should be collapsed down in robot mode though (Hasbro left them down by mistake in the official truck mode photo).

They've REALLY cleaned up the kibble on the back and reduced the panels on the arms on the new movie masterpiece prime conpared to the old leader-class figure. Looks aside, that should go a long way in just making it a more enjoyable, posable robot.

FINALLY, someone takes a fresh crack at a Masterpiece-style Starscream/seeker figure. Here's MakeToys 'MTRM Howling Meteor'. Just shows how badly Takara-Tomy needs to revisit their horrible, 11-year old mold. Starscream deserves a figure as clean, articulated & enjoyable as MP-36 Megatron.

That small head. Looks ok, but not enough to replace the offical MP.

yeah that movie prime looks really good updated...

I really like the updated design, and for $100 bucks, it's not bad for a Masterpiece figure.

wonder if it will come up at any of the overseas places for cheaper??

just when i thought i was done w/ seakers! lol :rotfl

it'll be interesting to see how well they translate. looks really good so far!

That's a nice Starscream, really!

But with Dirge being the only one left for me to finish the Seeker nightmare, I see this as a hard sell. At least for me.

IF TT decides to Redo the seekers later down the road, fine. But as it is, I'm ok with the MP-11 mold. They look nice standing behind glass, which is where I keep them. I've also invested quite a bit on them.

But again, credit where it's due, I think this is MT's best work as of yet. Their Megatron and Jazz are just average at best. And their Headmasters are just overpriced, much to the point of getting KO'd.

Yes, a 3P figure getting KO'd. Lol.

Interesting. Starscream is my favorite Transformer and I've always loved the Seekers (big F-15 fan) So I look forward to seeing this a little farther down the design process. I've owned every Starscream MP from the original MP-3 until now. I love my MP-11 and while I would consider adding this to my collection - I would only replace MP-11 if T/T did an updated one.

All things transformers!!!!

Imagine an updated Starscream with the same MP 36 love they put into it. Wow.

MP 36 has got to be the hardest figure TT has done, and they nailed it perfectly. I can think of others in which the laws of physics are a challenge (Motormaster and his trailer being a PART of him, et cetera)

But they would do an AMAZING Starscream if they wanted to.

Totally agree. MP-36 has definitely set the bar for all future MP's. I look at mine on the shelf and have to remind myself that it actually transforms too.:lol I would love to see a Seeker on the same level.

Use TFsource. The one I got from BBTS had it, the one I got from TFS did not.

Thanks, I set tfsource to notify me if they get more. Besides BBTS seems like the other reputable sites are sold out. Hope they make another run. I really don't want one with the orange plug.

I am still really happy with MP-11 Starscream, but if something came out that looked significantly better, I would buy. He's my favorite Transformer, as well.

yup agreed!

i really dig the look of that MT version... if it all comes together as good as it did w/ their great job on jazz... i'll be replacing my mp11 molds w/ this one.
