It looks like it's missing a lot of the paint apps the the original version had.

From what I heard Hasbro wanted to make a Starscream that almost literally looks like it stepped out of the cartoon, hence the basic colors.

It's because it's a Takara Masterpiece. They are large scale, and the best detailed TF's to come out. Engineering is amazing on them, pieces of art really.
