just pulled the trigger over at robot kingdom. got myself a takara prime bulkhead, perfect effect arcee ( pink obv. ) and the fans want it ironhide guns. cant wait...

nice man. I just recently POed the FWI Ironhide cannons too. Once I get those in, I'll start customizing mine. Still haven't had the time to finish my movie prime either

US First Edition has been cancelled.

Bad news reaches us from our sponsors, Big Bad Toy Store and TFSource. The Transformers Prime First Edition toy line, which contains amongst others a very sharp screen accurate Optimus Prime and Bulkhead, plus Cliffjumper with show-accurate arm cannons, have been officially canceled for US distribution. A very small few made it to Toys R Us, along with a partial release of the line in Asia and Canada. Although it was always intended to be a limited run line, it looks now like that many preorders may simply not be filled.

Earlier today, Big Bad Toy Store began sending out the following email:

We apologize that we have learned that Hasbro has canceled these [Transformers Prime First Edition] figures. We will be listing new TF Prime preorders on Wednesday 2/1. Some of these may convert to new listings and some will be canceled. We will email you with updates between now and Wednesday.

TFSource also posted the following on Twitter and Facebook:

Unfortunately we have some bad news, we didn't want to call it until Hasbro confirmed, but the rest of the Transformers Prime First Edition series figures will not hit the US. New Prime preorders will be up next week, if you already have placed an order you can opt to convert to the new product (RID) or cancel your order if you no longer want the RID piece. Once we have more news and the new preorders up next week we'll reach out directly to all customers that preordered.


Unfortunately it seems likely that the line will at this point never see a full, mainstream US release. However, hope is not completely lost - this may be like previous occasions where items that seemed to be canceled eventually turned up in discount stores such as Ross, as was the case with the Reveal the Shield Voyager assortment, Power Core Combiners or Windcharger.

Bad news that Hasbro is cancelling the release of any more First Edition Prime toys. I really wanted the First Edition Optimus and Bulkhead too, much better than the RID Prime Voyager Optimus. Looks like those Ebay prices are gonna skyrocket now.

Yes. Can some please explain the whole RID thing to me. I don't collect alot of TFs. I just wanted the Prime toys cuz i like the show. So am i ever gonna be able to get an Optimus or Bulkhead or not?? Please explain.

The first edition Optimus was much more show accurate in robit mode especially noticeable by how the back looks. On a YouTube review, the reviewer equated it to looking like a small cape on the RID versions the smokestacks are also set wider apart on the RID version in robot mode.
The first edition Optimus also had show accurate weapons.

I'm sure there's more to it but those are what I know off the top of my head. I hear First Edition Bulkhead was also more accurate than the RID version

Ppl were getting the Takara versions that had some better paint apps. Idk how some folks got the Hasbro ones though. They haven't been around my area b/c like you, I've been looking for months as well

To my knowledge they'll all be released as RId versions. BB is going to have the 2 arm cannons so I waited on him b/c the first editon only came with 1. Arcee is rumored to have a new mold based on the incredibly small pic from the TF Prime RID Ratchet review(which looks fantastic IMO). I haven heard anything about cliff jumper but I think right now he's the hardest one to find

Well this is good news if they are changing the molds. I don't like Arcee's back. I hope they find a way to hide the so called windshield/handlebar kibble, and have her wings on her back instead.

Sorry I meant to add that I dont think Cliffjumper is getting an RID version for some reason. Someone else here may no more about him but I thought I heard he was canceled awhile back but not sure. He wasn't one that I wanted so I don't know much info on him.
Arcee has become one of my favorites I the show so I really can't wait to get her

FE are different moulds altogether. Not remoulds. RiD Bumblebee is a walking automorph, Cliffjumper is a smaller, more detailed but in all seriousness, SMALLER toy and Arcee appears all new.

Optimus is a completely different toy as well.
