even though the Bible for the show, written by hasbro says otherwise?

Keep thinking about getting that silverbolt... but I think I'm gonna wait to see the finished superior, and get it as a set.

I didn't read the Bible for the show as a child, or ever since for that matter, so it doesn't matter to me. You've got a rationale for your preference, and I've got mine. It's all good. But re: Transformers, if it wasn't part of the G1 cartoon I don't really care much about it. So, I don't collect Beast Wars figures, or Bay-formers, or even Headmasters since they weren't in the cartoons I watched. I don't care as much about red tape (Frenzy :D ) as blue tape because he didn't have much of a personality in the cartoon that I've noticed.

See, now that's a response I CAN respect, even if I don't agree with it :D
And you're right, they really didn't have much a personality in the Cartoon.

Part of the reason I prefer the comics. Hell, Ravage lead the decepticons at one point in the comic if memory serves.

I have a couple of the old school graphic novels (big ones with bad coloring) of the first 10 comics or so, but haven't read anything beyond that, comics-wise. I did read some of the G2/GI Joe cross-over because I collected the Joe comics at the time, but they were pretty bad as I recall. I would like to read some of the newer IDW stuff one of these days.

got Silverbolt(Blackbird) today...(he is a great homage to G1)....2 more away from the completion of Superion

Nice...now where's the pics?? :impatient:

Cannot wait for the next masterpieces! Seeing that teaser has made my day. Bring em on!!

Here are a few cybertronian mode sheets

Fury!!
Seriously if you don't stop this you're going on ignore!! :ignore::lol:

Just kidding :1-1:

They are awesome as well, nice to see you even got some of the Cybertron stuff as well.

Yeah... the older marvel comics... some were pretty good... some... were REALLY BAD ( G2 stuff especially)

As far as the IDW comics, their G1 universe stuff is really good.
If you don't mind reading out of order, Pick up Last Stand of the Wreckers.
It's amazeballs.

reading the whole series in order is.. kinda weird.
they did a few 4-6 issue limited series books for the first couple of years, that lead up to everything

Infiltration was the first series. 4-5 books
Escalation was second 4-6 books
then Stormbringer
then I forget.

Eventually we get Last stand of the Wreckers, and All hail megatron.

Here we goo, a good reading order for the comics from the wiki

Early War
-Megatron Origin #1-4
-Spotlight: Blurr

About four million years ago, until pre-Infiltration
-Spotlight: Wheelie (timeline uncertain, but takes place in the distant past)
-Drift #1-4
-Spotlight: Shockwave (After Shockwave, any of these could happen in any order, since the timeframe is unspecified, other than Soundwave which happens in the 1980s. This is IDW's "official" order of the Spotlights, though you can read it in the order they were released.)
-Spotlight: Cliffjumper
-Spotlight: Sixshot
-Spotlight: Hot Rod
-Spotlight: Soundwave
-Spotlight: Ultra Magnus

Earth year approx. 2007
-Infiltration #0-6
-Stormbringer #1-4
-Spotlight: Nightbeat
-Spotlight: Kup
-New Avengers/Transformers #1-4
-Spotlight: Ramjet
-Escalation #1-6
-Spotlight: Optimus Prime
-Spotlight: Galvatron
-Spotlight: Blaster
-Spotlight: Arcee
-Devastation #1-6
-Spotlight: Grimlock
-Revelations Spotlight: Cyclonus
-Revelations Spotlight: Hardhead
-Revelations Spotlight: Doubledealer
-Revelations Spotlight: Sideswipe
-All Hail Megatron #14b (Galvatron story)
-Maximum Dinobots #1-6
-All Hail Megatron #15a (Kup story)
(One year gap)
-Spotlight: Drift
-All Hail Megatron #15b (Perceptor story)
-Spotlight: Metroplex
-All Hail Megatron #1-6
-Spotlight: Jazz
-All Hail Megatron #7-8
-All Hail Megatron #13a (Ironhide story; Continuum places this after AHM #12, which doesn't make sense considering the Autobots' location)
-All Hail Megatron #9-14
-All Hail Megatron #16
-Heart of Darkness #1-2 (vague timeline, happens anywhere between AHM 14b and the Ironhide mini)
(Approx. Three Year Gap)
-Spotlight: Prowl
-Bullets/Dead Men's Boots
-Last Stand of the Wreckers #1-5
-Transformers #1-3
-Bumblebee #1-4
-Transformers #4-18
-Heart of Darkness #3-4 -Transformers Infestation #1-2 -Ironhide #1-4 (One year after Transformers #1)
-Transformers #19-21

Unspecified Time in the future
-Spotlight: Mirage (Continuum places this between Devastation and Grimlock. I do not put any stock in Continuum.)

Nice haul Bio! Your shelves look amazing!

Thanks guys, really appreciate it! Great in depth review of Hexatron TJ Duckett! Phenomenal pics as usual!

Nice clean display dude. Every figure gets enough much deserved showspace. Got any more pics of ur setup?

Thanks man. How'd you get those G1 animation character model sheets? :thud:

Here's my current set up. I'm thinking of taking out the bottom shelf of the left detolf for FOC Metroplex, but we'll see. But I'm kinda getting paranoid about exposing Fort Max under led lights over a long period of time (photodegregation of the white plastic). But I figure I might as well enjoy him displayed than leave him in his box where he could just photodegrade anyway. :dunno

Long story short I purchased them through an online auction. Nice pic. FOC Metroplex would look good in that spot. Isnt he even bigger than Fort Max?

As long as you understand it's wrong, that's fine :lol
:peace

lol.

Well, here's the thing - the Sunbow got lots of things "wrong", and I'm not just talking about animation errors. Some examples just off the top of my head:

- Ratchet and Ironhide having heads
- Trailbreaker's headsculpt
- Gears' headsculpt
- SCALE in general

Given the consistency of Rumble being blue in the cartoon, it would seem that, like these, it was a conscious decision for some reason... It seems obvious that they liked the name better for their purposes, since it fit his "power" better, which was used quite often in the show. Who knows why they chose blue (maybe they thought he looked too much like an Autobot?), but even if it was a mistake, obviously they would have caught it eventually - and they just rolled with it, rather than fix it. So still a conscious decision, at some point anyway.

And that's good enough for me. I might have felt differently had I actually owned the toy as a kid, though. :)

Hey guys, I might have an opportunity to trade some of my Henkeis for an MP-10 Optimus - either the US TRU version of the Japanese Takara one. Any advice on which one to get?

I keep hearing that the US one is more accurate (because of the eyes, mainly) but the Takara one has nicer paint (especially the trailer/base)... and I have to admit, since I have the Takara Starscream, Soundwave, etc. the completist in my likes the idea of starting out with Prime.

Obviously the Takara one would require more in trade but I have the feeling I might get a better deal on it, even if it does "cost" me a couple extra figures.

Any advice?

look up some pictorial reviews of both of them, and just go with the one that you think looks best.

for me, it was the us version.

Yeah, TFW and Youtube are the obvious choices, but I can't access either of those at work.

Why did you like the US version best?

Think i got some comparison pics somewhere. Gimme a minute or two..

I didnt take this shot so the credit goes to someone else. Personally I like them both equally. Id get the Takara if I could only because I got Hasbro's already. Keep in mind the Takara trailer has better paint apps,in fact I dont think Hasbros has any just blue plastic. Good luck.

Good pic, thanks.

I think I like the darker blue, but man, the TRU version's eyes really pop, don't they? Really brings the figure to life, at least in that pic.

Any QC issues to watch for on either?

I'd go with the TRU version.

Only reason for the Takara version is the packaging...for some reason Hasbro like to make a pigs ear of it & you have to almost wreck the box to get him out.
Takara on the other hand use the lovely Cardboard boxes that make it super easier to open, fiddle with & put away.

The paint on the TRU version to me just looks better to me, the darker Tak version just doesn't really do it for me, much prefer the brighter TRU version just looks so much better, the eyes are awesome & in hand really really stand out.

Neil

Yeah, the blue on Hasbro's version made me decide to get rid of my Takara version and I always get the Takara versions. The blue on Hasbro's looked a little too bright in the initial pcs I saw but having it in hand, in natural lighting, I think it looks perfect.
