I haven't tried to force the windows closer because of the thin plastic on the sides of the chest windows, and because of the bumper scratching issue.

But the window screws are definitely making contact with inner grill protecting the matrix chamber. So it's best to use tape to prevent scratching it.

This potential for scratching has me a bit worried since both of these have been opened and displayed - should I ask for a pic in a specific area here?

It's MOSTLY the eyes. also, like TFC Hercules, his colors don't photograph well. he looks... much better in hand than most pictures will lead you to believe. he's nowhere near as bright as alot of the photos make him look.

in comparison, to me, the eyes on takara, and the darker colors make him look Dead. It's as if he's powered down, and been lying in a scrapheap for a few years. just... doesn't look right.

Wow, that's quite a vote for the Hasbro version... Food for thought. Thanks. :)

Lerath666 is dead on about the eyes.

DPrime, here are some pics of Optimus.

The chest windows are aligned and flush with each other now.

Here is the section with the thin plastic surrounding the pins on each side of the chest windows.

The chest screws will make contact with the inner cover of the matrix chamber. It will scratch the bottom.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, helps bigtime. Thanks bicoid18!

Couple quick questions:

1. Were those little stress marks there from the get-go, or the result of pushing, etc.?

2. In that last pic, similar question - are those the scratches I should be looking for, or just normal light factory wear (i.e. did it come out of the box like that)?

Thanks everyone for the info. :)

Glad I could help!

The stress mark was there when I first opened it. That's why I didn't try and force the chest windows together too much. But the other side doesn't have it.

There were faint scratches on the bumper/inner matrix cover out of the box. But the chipping is from the screws. It's fine in robot mode, but very noticeable in alt mode since it comprises the front bumper. Light wear should be normal, just look out for chipping of the chrome.

And ask about how tight the ankles are. Mine are a little loose, and Op tends to fall over when standing up normally (without any slight rotations of the knees and thighs).

Hmm, I didn't even notice the chipping.

I'll ask about both that and the ankles - thanks very much for the info!

I haven't had too much time with it, but in hand, Quakewave is amazing! :thud:

It's sturdy, doesn't feel cheap, and there's a good amount of heft to it. More so than Soundwave. QC wise, it's pretty solid! The joints are pretty tight and the figure is well articulated. I'm especially impressed with how the legs were done. It's my first 3rd party figure and I have to say that Fan Toys have really hit it out of the park with this one.

Not really bothered by the shade of purple or the transparent hand. My only gripes are putting in the batteries. CR 1020 aren't easy to find and the CR 1025's are a really tight fit for the head. The screw casings are also already stressed. But once the batteries are in, the light up gimmicks really elevate this figure!

I can't recommend Quake Wave enough. Great job, extraordinary effort Fan Toys. :clap

Great stuff Bicoid.

Quake Wave looks amazing.

Easily one of the best looking 3rd party figures I've ever seen.
He is so close to the original G1 version.

Unfortunately with my current spare cash tied up in other pre-orders he's beyond my means so he'll be a way off before I can get him & by then I expect he'll have rocketed in price so not sure I'll get him at all :(

He'd look awesome in a display with V2 Megs (if he appears)

Congrats again on getting him...he looks like one figure all of us should own.

Neil

For some reason, Shockwave is one G1 character I don't have much of a nostalgic connection to, so I don't feel like I need that figure (would like to have, but don't need). But he's a bad-*** looking robot.

I always remember him from the early G1 cartoon & he featred heavily in the UK Comics so he's always been an important character to me.

Hoping one day I will have him in the display.

Can you please post a pic of the original that this is a recast of Dubz? Thanks, I've never seen it.

Don't know why you have such a big problem with what i call things, you need to man up and just get over it.

And to explain for the 100th time to you, to me a TF that isn't made by Hasbro/Takara but transforms (or blatantly rips off the original IP) into a familiar TF character is a KO.
Be it the over priced ones you find online, or the crappy cheap things you find in a pound store (dollar store), to me its the same thing.

Deal with it.

Its really that simple, so move on with your life.

It's a problem because you're pushing people's buttons, and you know it.

It's like this dubs. Calling something that is not really all that different from calling you something other than your name, just becuase I feel like it. It could be offensive, racial, homosexual, or just plain mean in nature. It's not your name, and the only reason to do it is just to get a rise out of you. It's still wrong, but I can still do it if I feel like it.

That's essentially what your doing. and technically, it could be construed as stealth trolling. Generally you seem like a pretty level headed guy, so I'm hoping it's not out of malice, but rather thoughtlessness on your part.

Or, more simply, a mistake.

Damn that came out looking great! Might have to break the no 3rd party toys (though I have gotten accessories) rule. Always loved Shockwave

I always loved his voice. My brother and I always tried to mimic his and Soundwave's voice

Sorry, but if you continue to misuse terms with clear, unambiguous definitions (knock-off = counterfeit, not unlicensed original creations), then I'm afraid you will be called out on it. And clearly, as DPrime and lerath are suggesting, you are doing this for the purpose of pushing buttons and offending collectors of unlicensed products, pure and simple. You ran off two valuable contributors to this thread recently because of your behavior, and I'm not keen on seeing it happen to others. The one who needs to "deal" with something here is you. If you wish to continue being allowed the privilege of contributing to this thread and forum, then you should consider learning to play nice. Since Silent Bob and theCorsair left this thread, I've about run out of patience with you.

Anyone know where to find a Dual Model Kit Optimus for a good price these days? I had a guy who wanted to sell me one for $70 back in the day but I had to had to back out due to more important matters. Now I can't find one for less than $150. :slap
