From MP11 onwards I've become a completist with the coins so I'll get one for MP15 off ebay as they're usually around £8 or so.

My first Sideswipe only had a bit of an issue in the form of a finger mark in the paint on the car roof so if the other one is in slightly better condition then it'll be a bonus.

I've just checked my order with Kapow and I ordered both sets of tapes at the same time so I may have to wait a month for Rumble & Ravage....which sort of sucks but it'll still be cool to get 4 at once.

Movie Prime's flames look trashy to me. For someone with Optimus' gravitas, I mean. Otherwise, Optimus' movie design is one of the better Bayformers, not that that's saying much.

I think the collector coins started with Rodimus. Each release since MP 09 has had a coin released, through selected markets / outlets. Nice little extras.

Long term I think an official MP Shockwave will happen as after Megatron V2 and Galvatron he's the obvious choice for a large scale Decepticon.

Because of the amount of new MP molds that're apparently in the making I can't see it being announced until the latter half of 2014 at the earliest ( unless plans change ) so I think QuakeWave will have a decent run as the best Shockwave toy on the market.

I believe that MP09 was the first Masterpiece to have a coin included but I'm just sticking with the ones that were issued with toys I own.

NO, I'm not saying prime shouldn't nessacaraly kill his enemies. he's a soldier, it happens. But He's not John Mcclaine either. He shouldn't seem to enjoy it so much. nor should he summaraliy execute his fallen enemy who is no longer a threat.

and yes, I agree that his Turtles movie will be pretty Barf.

We already know the turtles themselves will be background characters, becuase he feels that modern auidences can't connect with non-human characters. ( this is supposition, based on his handeling of the Robot aliens in transformers)
That's been backed up by his own comments that Casey Jones will be the main character.

He's also hinted that April will be played by Megan Faux. Barf again.

So a retooled Sideswipe would be more likely, but if Breakdown happens I think it's more likely to be another original mold with the combination feature engineered in as even if Takara can't get the licenses for the other Stunticons straight away there's always the chance they'll get them somewhere down the line so they can finish the team.

More retools in the MP line will of course be inevitable but Takara appear to mean business with their reboot and if a character had it's own mold in G1 I think it'll get it in MP form, even if there's minimal repaint/retool potential.

Yes, I know it's a mockup, as Barricade did not exist in G1, but look at who the artist is I'd love to see a rmold of prowl as this. It would be kinda like The MP sunstorm and Acid storm we're getting. a remold to help keep costs down

This guy came in this morning!

I haven't had too much time with it, but in hand, Quakewave is amazing!

It's sturdy, doesn't feel cheap, and there's a good amount of heft to it. More so than Soundwave. QC wise, it's pretty solid! The joints are pretty tight and the figure is well articulated. I'm especially impressed with how the legs were done. It's my first 3rd party figure and I have to say that Fan Toys have really hit it out of the park with this one.

Not really bothered by the shade of purple or the transparent hand. My only gripes are putting in the batteries. CR 1020 aren't easy to find and the CR 1025's are a really tight fit for the head. The screw casings are also already stressed. But once the batteries are in, the light up gimmicks really elevate this figure!

I can't recommend Quake Wave enough. Great job, extraordinary effort Fan Toys.

For some reason, Shockwave is one G1 character I don't have much of a nostalgic connection to, so I don't feel like I need that figure (would like to have, but don't need). But he's a bad-*** looking robot.

I got QuakeWave this past Wednesday,

Fans Toys have bounced back from the Soundwave situation in some style with an incredible representation of Shockwave and the build quality & QC in particular is as good as, if not better than anything on the market whether official or otherwise.

I've mentioned before that I'm not a fan of diecast being used with Transformers but I'll now modify that viewpoint slightly to say that I don't like it if it's badly placed ie in the upper part of the body.

QuakeWave has diecast in the legs & feet which helps keep the robot mode stable and I'm cool with being used in those areas.

The transformation is nice & simple but I would advise some care when collapsing the legs as they tend to go all of a sudden and can cause small scuffs on the parts they connect to if things aren't lined up 100%.

All the joints are great and the lightup features are way better than those on MP01, MP05 & MP08 because the lights can be left in the "on" position instead of having to hold a button down which makes taking pics much easier.

Could Takara make a Shockwave that's closer to the G1 animation model and/or toy in robot mode?

Definitely.

FT's design is very good but the chest should be broader,the legs less blocky, the cable should fit to the underside of the arm and the shade of purple would also need to be different.

That's being nitpicky though, there's no doubt who the character is meant to be and the basic G1 Masterpiece aesthetic is there which bodes well for future FT releases.

Could Takara's build quality & QC be better?

Maybe....but I imagine it would mean a price rise.

If FT can further improve their overall designs to be even more accurate to the source material and maintain the same standards of QC they're perfectly placed to fill in many of the gaps that will emerge in the Takara Masterpiece lineup.

QuakeWave is the kind of quality all 3rd parties should be striving for and it'll inevitably keep the pressure on Takara to keep their eyes on the ball.

Blaster is looking like FT's next project but they've also talked about finishing off the Dinobots as well as doing Cyclonus & Scourge....bring 'em on! ( though not too close together! )

I also have a second MP Sideswipe on the way to keep in car mode and MP Rumble & Ravage shouldn't be too far off as the Japanese release is today so Kapow should get their stock shortly after

I think if Takara did that it'd be an intresting way of getting another use from the Prowl mold.

I would be suprised if Megatron V2 isn't a G1 version to go with MP10 as I don't think the gun laws in Japan are as much of an obstacle as they are in the US & Europe.

Be interesting if the next movie was "Fall of Prime", because of his acts in executing Megatron... could be cool if they explained it as a breakdown, PTSD type of thing, but then, I'm sure Michael Bay couldn't handle that kind of character development and/or series issues.

And frankly, I'd rather the new movies not reference the old ones at all. Seems like they're going the route of "could be sequels, could be a reboot" - i.e. take it as you will, fans of both. So that might be good.

Murderer Prime is something I could never accept. And I'm not sure what Bay's real statement is after all that. He seems to suggest that the Transformers are conscious/sentient creatures, and as such, should be held to a similar moral standard of humans. But murdering an unarmed, non-threatening defeated foe is pretty damn abhorrent when done by humans. I guess you could justify it as Prime being from a different, more savage culture, but then should he still be portrayed as genuinely heroic, as the musical theme and reactions of other characters suggests? I think I posted this before, but if the theme turned threatening and sour after Prime did these things, and if the humans looked on in shock and horror, then OK, I get it. But that's not what happened. Everyone acted like all was right in the world, and that Prime was justified/heroic/not a psychopath.
