Wow, they look pretty dang different there. Arms, legs, crotches, torsos, heads. . .look at that big flaps behind Smokescreen, the way his head seems connected to the guns, and his bottom legs. He seems like he was meant to come from a completely different toy.

That's so cool!!
But I like their vintage art looks better! :D

I was suprised at how many differences there was too!

I don't think the Masterpieces will have such drastic differences in the robot modes but different headsculpts and missile launchers shouldn't be a problem to implement.

Kuzeh,
Nice post!

I think a blue MP Bluestreak will be an eHobby release and a popular one at that.

Nice. I still have Soundwave sitting in my loot and can't wait to check these guys out.

Wow I didn't really there are so many difference's between the Nissans, will be really interesting to see how Takara tackles them.

Based on the difference's between Sideswipe & Red Alert I'm expecting good things

soundwave,
I'd go for a Predacon as official MP Stunticons may seem unlikely now I don't think their chances can be written off entirely.... there's already some talk that Breakdown is under consideration so if Takara make him it's reasonable to assume they'll get the others done as 3D models in case the other licenses can be obtained at a later date.

If you like the FP ones enough then go for them as whilst not my cup of tea they look decent enough, but if you prefer the G1 alt modes and only want one set of Stunticons it would perhaps be better to wait and see.

Given the engineering seen on Soundwave's tapes it would be intresting to see Takara tackle a challenge like Motormaster as it'd be an MP10 sized truck with a trailer that was part of the robot mode and have the combiner features as well!

No mean feat, but after seeing what Takara did with Laserbeak I wouldn't bet against them, they may even wait for FP's Motormaster to be revealed and get a few ideas.

I'm seriously torn between the Predaking & Stunticons.
I do like the look of the new Stunticons but I really want to see how they look all made up as Menasor before I take the plunge.

That said I'd love to see how Takara tackle them especially Motormaster.
How they will manage to make him all one Tractor/Trailer will be something I'd love to see

Ah well I have a while to decide & who knows what will be shown by Takara & the 3rd parties between now & then :)

They seemed to have made a much greater effort to match the actual G1 toys in season 2. Red Alert and Hoist were like that too, among others I'm sure...

A few more character sheets. Great shots of Quakewave, good to see u back corsair.

Congrats on getting Quakewave corsair, and welcome back!

Did Ratchet ever use that mobile unit in the G1 cartoon? I seem to remember Prime using his when he was trashing the military planes in the airport that one episode.

^ I don't think so... I've been watching the series recently on Netflix, and I'm maybe a third or halfway into the second season.

Would have been cool though. I wonder - if Takara DOES make MP Ironhide and Ratchet, would they be "self-contained", like the iGear versions, or like this?

Personally, I'd rather see something like this - with Ratchet's "station" being medically oriented and Ironhide's full of weapons. :)

Would be kind of cool if each included a human too, since there's a seat in there - maybe Sparkplug with Ironhide and Chip with Ratchet.

When I first learned that Prowl & co were coming I said to myself that I'd be happy if they just had the differences from the toys as I'd not yet seen the image of the animation models but my expectations have now risen a bit.

I like the look of MMC's Predacons but I recently decided to stick to series 1 of the cartoon for Decepticons unless something amazing like a fully licensed team of Stunticons happens.

bicoid18,
Thanks man! :)

Furyan,
The G1 character sheets are an awesome piece of Transformers history and you're very lucky to have them, it's great that you're sharing them with us :clap

DPrime,
If Takara could pull off the station thing without compromising the robot or vehicle mode then I'd be OK with it.

If not, then the iGear route would be fine.

I think they'd have to... Looking at the animation models, that's probably the way to go if they want to emulate that clean, kibble-free mode, which is something I didn't really like about the iGear versions ( as we have discussed earlier!).

Plus, even though the animation/scale-chart nazis insist otherwise, Takara seems to strive for a nice balance between both cartoon and G1 toy accuracy (paint and other such details, etc.). And it would be a great way to distinguish them from the iGear releases.

My only concern is how they'd fit a bot larger than Sideswipe inside a relatively small van... I'm sure they could do it, though.

I've previously thought that the vans were too "boring" for Takara to consider, but I'm starting to believe the potential for repaints and remolds outweighs that factor. People keep talking about all the Masterpiece figures we're getting now, but by and large they're ones that are easily repurposed into several releases.

Although I'm happy enough with the iGear ones for now I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't get Takara versions of Ironhide & Ratchet if the robot modes were cleaner.

Getting the characters with plenty of repaint/retool potential out first will make sense in the long run as the cash raised from all the variants will help pay for molds with less options for reuse....several of which may even be in development already.

I got my 2nd Sideswipe today,

Aside from the mismatched colors on certain panels that have been on pretty much all the MP12's I've seen the only noticeable paint issue on the car mode is a black splodge over one of the rear headlights but that's no big deal.

The side panels also took a bit of adjusting to fit together properly but I think that's been the case with most of them so again, not a problem.

Bring on Sunstreaker!

Not me, it's a great mold but I'd only get original 1984-86 characters, myself.

I still need Red Alert, too.
