hey guys , I figured this was the right thread for this question.
I don't collect any transformers stuff at all and rarely see any of the cartoons.
Although I do want a piece to go with my collection because I loved the movie and always loved the look of the robots themselves.
It doesn't have to be related to the movie but I am looking for a piece that doesn't look to tosyish which is the thing that has always put me off them in the first place ( imo ).
Whats a well detailed piece that could be displayed alone ?.
12" inches or bigger if possible !.
Thanks for any help in advance.

Maybe look into the Hard Hero statues.

Masterpiece Prime, hands down. If you can only have 1 TF item that should be it IMO. And MO is completely accurate on this one :lecture

These are my 2 favorite of the transformer statues out there. both made by palisades. 12" tall

I'll agree with you on that, if going the statue route the Hard Hero ones look fantastic! Very much in line with the cartoon.

Statues only.

Toys, no.

SideShow's people are experts in sculpting, but Transformer toys are more of an engineering thing than anything else.

yea i agree they would make some nice statues or PF figures but transformer toys are more for well transforming

Yeah, Takara is the right company to be making the Transformers figures. They've had it from the get go and really know what they are doing. Sure not all the mass market stuff is great. But when the go all out (like the masterpiece and Binaltech) you can get some crazy f'n figures :rock

I've got the hasbro optimus prime masterpiece version. had him a while. The original 50th anniversery one that was mostly metal, not the re-release that was plastic. I want to get my hands on the starscream from wal-mart, but can't seem to find one. Does walmart still carry him? or no?

I don't think Walmart has the Masterpiece Starscream anymore. From what I heard, it was rather limited. You can still get the Japanese edition, which is identical, but of course more expensive. I think BBTS has it, and it's probably available on ebay.

How is the masterpiece Megatron? I like the look of the expansion pack, the cannon and all...

It's an awesome display piece, but limited in it's articulation (no upperarm swivel, which REALLY hurts it IMO), has severe balance issues (weak balljoints for the feet and the cannon weighs him down alot), and most have severe quality control issues (easy to break, joints screwed so tightly that it's easy to break them, generally fragile, and it's feet rust easily). And yes, the transformation is incredibly hard if you aren't familiar with complex Transformers, not to mention downright scary (you'll feel like you're about to break something, garanteed).

In short: Beautiful display piece, but hindered by weak engineering and QC problems.
