Too late for that...the shots at the movie and its figures are part of the reason why I don't post much here at all. Doesn't make one feel too welcome when usually any mention of the movies is followed by negative remarks like Kuzeh's response to that custom HA Soundwave

Maybe you should develop a sense of humor? :dunno

The Bayformers may become a generational marker like the Ewoks were for the Star Wars films. You either love em or you hate em without much of a buffer zone in between.

I'll try to be more careful as I tend to assume most of us are in the anti-Bay camp. Hard to contain the hate though. :monkey3

Sorry Bay fans!

So since I took yours and other's similar "jabs the wrong way" and "felt less inclined to post here" I need to develop a sense of humor? Yea...you were sincere then :rolleyes2

I'm pretty sure you wouldn't find it too funny if the situation were reversed

Anywhoo, I don't want to make waves gven that i dont post much here in the first place. but since it was brought up I felt I should comment given that I have actually felt like what you and silent bob said in y'all's posts

Nope. not Garbage diecast in these at all. they can actualy be posed.

complex transformations, G1 robot modes. excelent articulation, and ( though not nessacary) liscensed alt modes.

Best G1 toys in years.

I'd also like to point out, that when alternators were 40$, gi joes were 4$, marvel legends was 10, and deluxe transformers were 7$.

not to mention Sideshow was probobly 40$, if around at all.

time passes, prices go up.
Simpler than those Bay-Formers in what sense? I recall the Sideswipe having an incredibly complex transformation. Simpler aesthetic, sure. But regarding price, $80 is the markup for those sold in the U.S. You can order them from Japanese import sites for closer to $50 a pop.
Seriously?

Alternators were nothing like the present generation of Autobot cars because,

1.The robot modes were severely compromised by large amounts of kibble, and in most cases it restricted the poseability which detracts from the fun factor.

MP12,12T,14 and 17-19 have very clean, almost kibble free robot modes which is perfect for the G1 aesthetic.

By comparison most Alternators look a mess.

2.The transformations were needlessly complex, possibly because of the decision to give the cars full interiors.

First and foremost Transformers are for kids and I think that the demise of Alternators was partially because they weren't the kind of thing that a kid with a short attention span would have had much fun with....this is also the reason that Hasbro gave to explain why the last lot of Bayformers were more simplistic that the ROTF line.

The Masterpiece transformations are just involved enough to be fun and that's all they need to be considering they're G1 characters.

3.None of the alt modes were accurate to the originals.

Sideswipe and Sunstreaker as Dodge Vipers?

Prowl as an Acura?

I don't think so.
Well, Alternators were $19.99 - not $40. I checked out a YouTube review of Masterpiece Sideswipe that included a transformation, and found it to be really no different than a $25 Voyager-Class figure. These new Masterpiece figures are smaller than Human Alliance/Alternators, less intricate than Human Alliance/Alternators, and include no premium materials like die-cast, chrome, rubber tires, etc.

I could never justify paying $90 for a figure that appears to have no reason to cost a penny over $30. The lowest price I could find was $60 from Robot Kingdom, but then you'll pay $30 shipping.

There's nothing wrong with trying to justify a purchase but what kind of intricacy are you looking for? These are the G1 guys who pretty much just lay down on their stomachs and turn into their vehicle modes. But whatever floats your boat.

AMIAMI had them for about 46$, and you coulkd get them shipped from japan to the states for less than 15$.

If you don't feel they're worth it, [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWdd6_ZxX8c[/ame]

But you're in the minority.

:peace

Anyone watching the return of Transformers Prime aka TP Beast Hunters?

Don't want to spoil but I feel season 3 is gonna be awesome! :D

Pretty far off Topic but I thought DPrime might be interested in seeing what I picked up for my Brother today at me local market...

I was being sincere, but it seems to me like you're taking things way too personally, you and everyone else can collect whatever you like, it has no relevance on how I enjoy the franchise.

Spanbauer,
So you're complaining about pricing :thud:

I live in the UK, I generally have to pay more for everything so that kind of argument is redundant to me.

Apologies, I didn't mean to imply that these figures are not intricate enough for my taste, nor am I a fan of complexity just for the sake of it. What I meant was - if these figures were some insanely complex marvel of engineering, I could say, "oh, ok. So that's why they cost $90."

If Hasbro brings these Autobot "Masterpiece" figures stateside, I'd expect them to sell as 2-packs for $59.99 - Blustreak/Sideswipe in one and Prowl/Red Alert in another.

I was just giving an honest answer. I feel that there might be some confusion then. When I said "it's too late for that" I meant that it was too late for someone to not feel that way, not that it was too late for your kind of post as I thought it was nice of you to say.

As Hasbro would need to agree seperate deals with Lamborghini and Nissan it's far from guaranteed that they'll show up in the US.

They're likely to be too cheap to want to pay out and if Acid Storm warms pegs in the way it's likely to Hasbro may not even bother bringing more Masterpieces out unless it's a big name such as Prime.

Gipetto0812,
OK, sorry if I seemed a bit too aggressive and didn't interpret it the way it was intended, it's been one of those days.

Please don't feel put off any more, I won't comment on Bayformers again.

Yup. don't expect to see sideswipe and Red alert from Hasbro.

Allmost a forgone conclusion that they will not be happeneing.

I'm still holding out for a MP-11 Screamer.

Really? I've always dug that design.

It's just overdesigned nonsense, typical comic-booky stuff. Too many guns all over the place, that sort of thing.

Think a tank version of Liefeldesque pouches and huge guns - that's what I see there.

I think this is a case of "I'm basing my tank design off what I see in sci-fi/comics" rather than "I'm basing my tank design off real life but putting a sci-fi spin on it". Someone like Jim Lee - I always got the impression that he would look at actual vehicles and what not, and create his own designs from that, whereas I don't get that feeling at all from this.

Yeah, maybe.

I for one love the Ewoks. :)

For four pounds (sorry, no idea where the pound symbol is!) that's a great deal!

Did you even get Target exclusives in the UK? If not, even better deal. :)

Totally understand wherre coming from, and it seems like you're more of a "geewunner" (not-negative) then? Robots-in-earth-disguises?

That's cool. I'm just a bit different in that I prefer more cybertronian takes on Transformers in alt., especially when the comics are set outside of earth... like, if that design was used for an earth Megatron, I'd go wtf, but as a cybertronian, I like it and really don't see a need to be derived moreso from an "earthly" tank, if that makes sense?

Thanks for explaining. I see where you're coming from, for sure... and another odd thing is that, even though I'd buy a classic of that Megatron, I don't think I'd invest money into it at all as a Masterpiece.

Lol it's ok :)

Nope we don't even have Target stores let alone get anything exclusive ;)

I'm pretty pleased with them for the money.
Going to keep scouring the stall every week now just in case ;)
