Finally got the Soundwave from Toys r Us. I dislike Toys r Us very much..

There is one store that is kind of hidden behind a Best Buy and it never lets me down. They still have MP Thundercracker in stock. But it is kinda far from me. It was on the way to one of my clients today.

There were 4 Soundwaves in stock. But Im not a scalper, so if you live in GA, try the Toys r Us in La Vista Rd.

So... Not that I'm making the decision anytime soon, but if you were in the position of having both the Takara Soundwave plus tapes, and the Hasbro version, which would you keep?

NB: I'm just asking this generally, not to LoneWolf specifically - just happen to be the post after his.

I got the new one for the tapes, and planned on selling the Hasbro Soundwave and Laserbeak off. But now I'm thinking I might just sell my Takara figure.

Are there some other QC issues/differences I'm not aware of?

I heard the TRU Rumble (the BLUE one, in case you're one of THOSE guys!) is more screen accurate...

From what I heard, the two versions are nigh identical. The only differences are lack of chrome on the tapes and the yellow visor. Even QC wise, the few problems that are there are shared. I'm really impressed by that.

And a friend of mine is going to look for one. I have a few commission rewards waiting with her from a few, so if it works out I'll get MP Soundwave for 100 euros, since she'll cover shipping. Depends on whether or not customs will hit me, always a crap shoot. Here's hoping!

I prefer the red eyes and chrome on the tapes.

As far as I'm concerned Rumble is red as that's what the toy was....him and Ravage were my first G1 Decepticons.

I found another SW tonight and picked it up just because it didn't have the TRU He-Man harness squeezing the box. Figured I'd just return the first one I got (haven't opened him yet) but I'm also looking to pick up a TRU MP-10. If anyone wants to do tradesies, Soundwave for Optimus, hit me up!

The Hasbro Soundwave's Decepticon tampo is in a slightly different spot and there are parts on the feet of the that are unpainted.

I just got a call from my local TRU and since they had to cancel my order from my instore pick up they said they will call me up and put one on hold for me when more comes in. Only 5 came in and all 5 are spoken for. Guess they are holding these for customers. Extra happy that I was the first they called so I asked for a mint box. Damn it feels like the 80s again, but this time I'm paying for it

No idea on the tapes, I haven't looked too closely at the Hasbro set.

The Hasbro package is undoubtedly better value for money than the Takara....if you live somewhere that has it at retail.

Hasbro UK will likely take another year to make up their minds whether they'll have it in our TRU's and will inevitably order a single pallet for the entire country so most people will end up having to import one.

Once international shipping and possible customs charges are taken into account the amount of money saved is likely to be minimal.

I save myself all that BS by biting the bullet and getting the Takara ones.

thanks! It's hard getting things like this here in Hawaii with scalpers lined up daily before the store opens. The employee knows about it and even thinks its sad. And we only have one TRU and a TRU express on the island I live on.
