I've been looking to buy the Takara Soundwave, I've seen a lot of them with the silver part in the center of his forehead just blue. Like it's just not even been painted. Is this normal? Does the Takara version come like this?

Yeah, some kind of running change. Not sure which was the correction, but I think plain blue was...

Just finish custom painting my unicron, don't know where else post this, anyway, nothing crazy just some dry brushing and detail work can't see most of it in the ****y pics.

Arguable in the case of MP-10... A few others, too (TF Prime comes to mind...).

I like Takara's prime better. Looks like the old toy to me with the darker blue. The Hasbro version looks too bubblegum and bright in my opinion.

Yeah I see what you mean, but the eyes on Hasbro's looks so much better. At least thats what I think.

Me too. I like some of the colours on Takara a bit better, but Hasbro's eyes make Optimus come to life!

I own the Takara Prime.
I sold my Hasbro Prime because
1. I didn't like the uber bright colors and 2. the feet and legs were loose out of the package.

I bought the Takara prime and prefer it. No.. It looks like the toy from the 80's. I had one of those as a kid too. haha

Dark blues, grays, dark red. Also the trailer on the Takara has more silver paint and details.
The Takara prime would be perfect with Yellow eyes.. but It's not that big of a deal to me for the overall look. I kind of dig the clear eyes with the right lighting.

I'll take the better looking "spirit" of the character over something thats 80 toys accurate any day. I have my G1 toys still, obviously I want characters that look how they should, but I also want them to look as good as possible.

well.. if you dig it, that's what matters. He just looked.... Off to me. didn't keep it. GOt the hasbro instead. LOVE IT. He looks ALIVE in a way the takara didn't. it's hard to convey. I know it's mostly the eyes.

I like things about Takara MP10 and Hasbro's. My solution...own both. Hasbro's blue eyes make SUCH a difference but I do like everything else, more, on the Takara version. hasbro's light colours are not my cup of tea but I think they are cool for cartoon accuracy and appreciate that some may like them better. Options are good!

MP10 TRU exclusive is the version I own, I don't own the Takara version. But the hasbro version I'd rather have for nostalgic reasons.

There isn't really a spirit for any character. Prime has been reworked a million times, and honestly, the Cartoon is just a commercial for the toys. Ask a kid today what Prime looks like and he'll say that abomination from the movies.

To me the "spirit" is the toy I had as a kid. I hear that whole thing about him being "alive", but I think he just looks cheaper.

Their are some head mods out there too, but I dig the clear dark eyes.
