is a figure I'd really like to get. I've been on an X-Men kick recently, and after rewatching all four movies and reading some classic comics, this would be one of my most wanted Marvel figures from Hot Toys. I'm certainly looking forward to their Wolverine line, and feel that I need everyone's favorite gay/Jewish/mutant Master of Magnetism on my book case to go along with it.

But in the mean time, how is the Medicom figure? Is it 12" tall, or shorter? it looks okay to me, but not a hundred dollars good, and I know it's a comic/cartoon-based figure, but I was hoping I could get it as a stand-in when the Hot Toys Wolverine comes out. Does anyone know where it can be had the cheapest?

Never start a thread with a title like that. It gives everyone the impression an annoucement has been made.

Hot Toys has the WOLVERINE license, not X-men. So no Magneto for now.

Did Toybiz ever do a 12" figure for their movie line? I remember they did Spiderman figures, but can't rememeber if they tried X-Men as well.

With Origins doing well, it has greenlit both Deadpool and Magneto Origins which originally had McKellan tied to it. Its a possibility but probably not for a few years down the line

But is the Medicom Magneto a good buy? How would it look on a shelf next to a Hot Toys Iron Man, Batman and Joker?

the medicom magneto is the comic version, not the film version, so i would think even though it would look good on its own, it would look out of place with the movie figures.

I am aware of that, but I'm not too picky with displaying comic and movie characters when they more or less share the same source material (even though my smaller collection of 6" Marvel and DC figures is primarily movie based, I still mix in a few comic figures in there if a movie version is unavailable; I figure 12" figures would mix similarly.)

Calm down. You're reacting like the guy has ruined your week. You could read from the title it wasn't an announcement:rolleyes:

You clearly aren't a mod. You have no idea what kind of clean up we usually have to do when a supposed 'announcement' thread is start and it only ends up as a wish list.

as a mod, shouldn't you have good grammar? ;)

At least I added the "eventual" tag so it would sound fairly speculatory.

I bit the bullet and ordered the Medicom Magneto for 58 dollars, shipped (Thanks for suggesting BBTS!) I'm cool with the stylized/animated look as long as it looks good on its own and represents the character fairly well. It will be my first real Medicom figure (not counting Godzilla,) and only my second 12" Marvel figure (after Iron Man) so I'm hoping it will look better in person with my other comic/movie based figures, and keep the shelf warm until the Hot Toys Wolverine arrives.

Even though 58 bucks isn't cheap, you can't even get a Sideshow figure for that these days, let alone a Medicom, so I hope it's worth what I paid for (certainly wouldn't have bought it for 100 bucks, though.)

BBTS has it for $50. A bit smaller than Sideshow and Hot Toys figures, but not by too much.

He's part of the comic line, so he's not noticeably shorter, unless you pose all your figures " strait as a boner" to quote Pixeltwin. For some odd reason, the comic superheres are the tallest medicom figures. moving on.

comic book or not, if you were to repaint his face to "reallistic" fleshtone colors, he'd fit right in with real world figures. He's a great figure, if Too muscular for magneto. i need to track down a Truetype to swap him to. Or fix the body i do have for him.
