Right... Is that why Medicom's 1/6 Vader helmet sculpt is better than Sideshow's 1/4 sculpt?
Not to take this another direction but that is really the worst photo of the Medicom to put up (good'ol baby armed Vader - Prowse was Mr Universe for crying out loud) IMHO both those helmets look off the Medicom is better then the SSC but it doesn't have the aggresive commanding presence of the screen prop. Just as note the helmet on the SSC is what put me off the Premium formats as the helmet shape is make or break factor in the armoured characters and I hope the 1:6 version will look more like the Marmit prototype
I will count the Jango helmet because all the other exclusives have been done with a great level of detail and attention, hell the Mynok's almost as good as having a figure, and Grievous' blaster with Obi-Wan is fantastically constructed. The only Exclusives I've felt were underwhelming in execution were the Holograms but even they're not that bad, so I do believe the Jango helmet got attentive work, and if it didn't then shame on them because it would have been all the better if they put some time into it. As for ROTJ versus ANH helmets, there were variations but overall the shape was essentially the same.
You can see here that the dome area is essentially the same shape as all the films, and quite clearly the PF image below shows the helmet significantly off in shape. The mask looks great but the dome is what it is.

The helmet that came with Mace should not count. It is a accessory, not a figure.
I'm the type to pick up wherever conversation is going lol, but anyway back on topic, sadly, with things being quiet for holiday, I don't think we'll hear more about this baby this week, but I hope maybe next week we'll get images and or PPO information.

Could someone repost the beautiful, unproduced Marmit Vader? I know I've seen ANH and ESB incarnations. I wish Sideshow would just mimic those two.
I'd buy that if not for the quality put into other accessories, especially ones like the Stormtrooper blaster that came with Leia, it has a working folding stock and great weathering and it's only an accessory. To engineer to that level for some accessories and for others say slap together something it's good enough on others would be poor thinking in my mind. Hell, the Battle Droid head that came with Kit Fisto looks great and the use of metal for it was awesome, so I'm not buying that the Jango helmet is meh because they just didn't care about it, especially because that's even more frustrating a path. I'd rather it botched then have a maker not care about the quality of everything that they produce and Sideshow's continued to show from product to package they're trying to give us the best of everything, so I'll accept the Fett helmet not coming out so great, and look to future helmets of the sort with cautious optimism.
I think the dome shape is the same Sean but the front may be to much in downward direction.

The other items are items you USE though. The Jango helm isn't and the droid head would be kind of hard to screw up. Especially since its metal.
I don't think the drodi head is any less challenging than Jango's helmet shape, and even if the other items are more of use to the figure, it just doesn't make sense to not give each item it's worth. Again, I'd rather Sideshow screw up than not give a damn so without official word from them, I'll continue to believe they messed up but give every piece their all rather than give elements half the attention they should because they feel it's meaningless. If you opt to put something in the whole package deal, it becomes important with these high end figures, it's not a $20 Hasbro or something at this level.
It counts because it's their reprentation of what it the helmet should look and it was wrong! They half assed it even though it was an accessorie.

I know, but I have a feeling if there is a newsletter, it's going to be a bare minimum one, a few things about Holiday deals or whatever, the 2 license announcements and maybe some new shipping updates but I don't anticipate new product information, though I'd love to be proven wrong. The anticipation of another Trevor HS plus the potentail for a badass pose/PF overall is very enticing.
They may have screwed up. I don't know but honestly its an accessory and I don't care one ounce at all if its not the right shape by a smidge here or there. I care more about the shape matching when it goes ON the figure like with the Medicom one. So in the end it looks fine and when they get around to making Jango I'll worry then. It serves its purpose looking cool with my Mace figure.
Well I'll agree that it's less important when it's not a main element of the figure and it doesn't come out right, I just count it as a strike against their ability to match the film helmets and it gives me a bit of concern for what'll happen when they make these helmets for their respective characters and not pack in items.

See that's where I don't. If they screw up Jango's helm that goes on his head be it like Medicom or a seperate head like Boushh then I'll be concerned.
I follow ya. I've always been one to judge everything based on precedents set, especially dealing with people, when you understand the norm you can better read when something's not right, and even with collectibles, I always base things off of what's been done but hold out hope for growth until seeing the eventual outcome. Two years ago I'd have never believed Hot Toys portraits would be as good as they are today compared to how they used to be, so I'm always happy to have my fears proven wrong.
Anywho, that's my closing thoughts on this derailment, and back to Anakin PF, bring it on, even just some Prod Blog shots would be nice.
Trev, if you're reading around here, any chance of hinting at the emotion in the Anakin portrait?
I wouldn't bank on anything tomorrow, they're running a skeleton crew, hell they had just ONE guy shipping the Old Bens out last week. It'll be soon enough though. I will say, I may not get this if he doesn't have an ignited lightsaber, that's key for me.
