Many bands that have lost members and gained new ones have gone on to even greater success
Killswitch Engage
Genesis
AC/DC
Cannibal Corpse
Sepultura
only to name a few, I'm sure the list goes on....
I've always thought Chris Cornell had one of the greatest rock vocals ever, but his voice has sounded really shreaded to me since Down On The Upside. But I'd still probably really enjoy new Soundgarden. And after the way Chris' last solo effort got trashed, I'd say it's about time. His solo stuff was very underwhelming to say the least..

ooh tough question, its varies based on my mood. If I'm feeling for something raw, I really like The Warning a lot. If I want something crisp, sonic, and well produced I like Empire.
But in the end I guess I have to say a perfect blend of both = Operation Mindcrime and therefore thats my favorite.
Best Soundgarden album IMO is SuperUnknown, with my favorite track on that album being 4th of July probally..so many good songs on that one.Jesus Christ Pose is another good song.Anything after SuperUnkown, i found hard to get into..Pretty Noose was alright but..meh.
Yeah, SuperUnknown is a GREAT album. I like almost every track. Pretty Noose had some good stuff, but it didn't come close to SuperUnknown. I've been really disapponted with Cornell's solo stuff and much of the Audioslave catalog. But as I said, his voice just doesn't sound the same to me these days. There are songs where he almost has a Brian Johnson quality to his voice, which is fine, but it's not vintage Chris.
I don't care what anyone says..Max Calvera was Sepultura..their newer singer Derrick* or whatever(black guy) nice guy for sure but, he sucks and reminds me of Sevendust singer..i did see them at the Warehouse in Toronto back in like 98 or 99..Seputura will always be with Max for me, that SoulFly garbage i refuse to remember and hell well..i have moved on from Sepultura years ago as i can't stand political music.I would rather listen to songs about fantasy...after all, music should be an escape.
HungerStrike was the only good Temple of the Dog song and it was a great collaboration between Soundgarden and Pearl Jam members.

you have a lot of black and white opinions.
Temple of the Dog was amazing, as was Andrew Wood... a very creative, inspired vocalist to which it was dedicated to...

The first Mad Season Album is awesome.
i remember seeing AIC when they were a make-up wearing "glam" band and less than a year later they were knocking me on my butt with stuff like "We Die Young". the original line up never failed to impress and i would love to revisit even a fraction of that chemistry with their new line up.
