Just a quick clarification which may not needed. Han is the original Sideshow (Trevor Grove) sculpt. Josh pulled of this transformation with paint apps alone.

Now there's no question that that is a tribute to the underlying sculpt by Trevor, but just look at what a paint brush in the hand of a master can do!

Sideshow had their factory paint attempt over that same Trevor sculpt and look what we got. Don't get me wrong, ANH Han out of the box was far better than some we've seen, but there is absolutely no comparison between Josh's work and the original...

Josh, I think I may send you your commission on this over again, because based on the amount of work you did and the result you acheived, the price you charged is frankly embarrassing!

And it is ME who is honored to have a piece of your work in my collection (especially now since that work may be getting extremely limited now..)

Thanks again, Man!

Wow man, sorry I missed this post... What a great thing to say, I am floored. Thank you so much, it really does mean a lot to me to read that.

Honestly, Trevor sculpts are always a joy to paint.. and this one was no exception. I love painting his work, it's so amazingly easy to wring out beauty and greatness from anything Trevor does.

And yeah, my prices are pretty low... But I guess I just hate making people pay that much for paint. :lol

Just pulled this shot off last night. Had to share. Stop me before I post again!

Speaking of comparison

The trevor sculpt is it without a doubt, but I think Bespin sculpt gets a bum wrap....

Which looks more Han?

Sorry a little out of focus...

Thanks to Josh/Josh :duff

I think the Bespin sculpt is really nice, just a bit misproportioned within itself. The hair is for one size head, the face for another, and together they're a little ill-fitting. If the hair were bulkier to match the size of the face, and then the whole head shrunk down more in scale, it'd probably be fantastic, but the hair seems a little thin which results in the face looking a bit chubbier than it really is, but it should be a littly pudgy, Ford did look a bit puffy in the face in ESB.

I think you guys are being too kind about the Bespin sculpt. I still think it started out as the ROTJ sculpt and they just changed the costume to be ESB. Yes, there is definitely a likeness in there, and it's certainly more acceptable if it was in the ROTJ gear, but like Maulfan pointed out, the small hair and pudgy cheeks are a problem.

Paintjob notwithstanding, I think the ANH sculpt is great. DarkArtist's work shows that. He's definitely one of my favourites.

Well, I guess it'll be no surprise where I stand. The argument can certainly be made that the Bespin sculp is better than what first meets the eye. And if you're comparing factory paint to factory paint, ANH's edge in terms of overall first impression might not be a chasm. But if we're just talking quality of sculpt, there really is no contest.

And if we're talking overall potential of the sculpt when optimized with truly lovingly applied paint apps, take Trevor's sculpt, kissed with Josh's brushes, and its lights out - game over - the end...
