Sorry MF, I don't buy it. As was said once in another thread, the character is the actor and vice-versa. That's why the first feature they advertise is "authentic likeness of ..."

That said, I'm reasonably satisfied with Luke, just not blown away.

You totally missed what I was driving at though. Yes, there is supposed to be likeness to the actors, but what I was getting at is thes particular representations of those actors are based on characters, not just Mark Hammil in every day life or something, so it is not enough to just see them as you would see Mark on the street, it helps to see it in the context of seeing Mark as Luke. Not sure how else to articulate what I'm driving at, but I was never saying it shouldn't or doesn't look like the actors.

Still waiting for Luke to arrive in the UK but after seeing many in hand pics, I have to say the eyes aren't the best imo. I'd prefer a more wide eyed look... I know it may be considered a crime but... swap heads with Yavin Luke? *ducks for cover*

Mine is taking forever to arrive, likewise with Han. Generally I am excited with what I see in the images posted here.

This is why I'm on the fence with the likeness. I'm not finding too many angles where it really looks like Luke. There are a couple, but most of my SS figures have multiple angles where I see the likeness. This one has fewer IMO. I still think it's a nice figure but both Jedi and Bespin capture the likeness better.

I totally agree with this comment the other likenesses are much closer to Mark Hamill, IMO im not overly keen on this fig............and I was looking forward to this one ...............

I do feel the likeness is definitely there. Second only to Jedi Luke.

Well that's exactly why I think photography plays to whether the likeness on these figures shows or not, especially when paint is working against it.

I feel the eyes on this figure are not painted in a way that bests highlights the sculpted likeness, and same goes for Han but I think seeing it yourself in hand or photographing it in the right way can compensate for the painted shortcomings and reveal that the sculpt does capture the likeness.

Hearing a lot of issues with the Hamill likeness on this figure, "I don't see Hamill...", etc. If someone could re-post the raw sculpt, I don't think anyone could cling to that opinion. I think the sculpt is by far the best representation of Hamill that I've seen. It's all in the paint apps.

Even in the proto shots, this looks like an extremely self-confident Luke, beyond even his portrayal in Jedi. Almost what I envision of EU Luke after he becomes the central Jedi in the galaxy. And its appears to be all in the eyes. Even that profile shot shows it. MaulFan's photoshop example literally gives him more of the wide-eyed inocent look we need in a ANH Luke and almost by magic, Mark Hamill appears. Can't wait to see the first re-paints! DarkArtist..? Cocoboloboy...? What's up? And don't use that tired old excuse "I haven't go the figure yet"

Although I expect to have Luke in a few days, I would appreciate it if someone could post a pic showing whether Luke can hold his rifle to his shoulder as if he were aiming it.

Not very naturally. And certainly not the one he's referring to.

Hell, Buck bodies can't even hold phones or walkie-talkies up to their ears (which was an eternal frustration with the X-FILES figures).

I'm gonna have to test this when i get home... surely its possible?!? Although i did have some trouble getting my SS LotR Boromir's horn to touch his lips so he could blow it.... (oh the innuendo! )

That why I said keep it all in one thread, this happens everytime, and it's a good thing, pictures should spark conversation, but it'd be goofy to post pictures here and talk about them elsewhere.

Unless mods come up with some way to lock threads to just pictures or everyone posts to a gallery, we won't have just images in a thread.

We are discussing pictures.

I have heard a lot of folks talk about the Buck not being able to do certain poses, but each time I read about them, I tried them and they worked for me. Such as Obi-Wan not being able to do his iconic hand-to-chin pose. And even with the Buck being a little less articulateable than some of the others, I am very surprised to read they it can not do a simple pose like holding a phone to an ear.

In order to keep the thread on track...can someone post a shot of Luke holding a cell phone to his ear?

I am one of the few who actually love the Yavin sculpt (with a Les repaint, mind you)...
