And everyone says it needs a repaint - where are they? Post'em up!

Right! We had repaints within hours of the ANH Han release! Guess our painters are taking a well deserved weekend of rest! Well, we're happy to wait since we don't have the talent (speaking for myself), but please forgive us if we're inpatient!

Yeah, it is hard to paint up dollies while inpatient :lol Usually the mental health units won't allow you to bring in toys.

But if any of us ever wound up in a mental health area I bet we'd be safer with toys than we would with playing cards or something. :lol I know I'd just sit in the corner all day and play with my toys. :lol

A few natural light shots to showoff the sculpt likeness.

Hey Sean, did you post your thoughts on the Luke?

Nope, I got a little caught up in things pre-trip and only managed a few shots I'm happy with so far post-trip, still a little tired and the work can suffer under that circumstance.

I did water treat his tunic after seeing your images though and even for posing and reposing it makes a nice difference I think.

As far as impressions go, like everyone else I think the accessories were executed immaculately, great detail and craftsmanship.

As far as paint apps, I think hair comes down to preference, but as a general statement, I think it may be a touch on the darker side, that or less yellow to the shade it is, but it works fine how it is. Flesh tone is fine. As I suspected from early images, it suffers most in the eyes. The color is very close to the flesh tone so in most cases, you can't distinguish the shape of the eyes from the face which hurts the likeness. A bit whiter, just enough to distinguish flesh from eye and it'd shine. Could possible use a different paint app on the iris, but I'd have to see what the current one is like against a whiter eye first.

The tunic may have been better on the proto, but I actually find colorwise, it almost seems a bit on the greyer side. I'm not sure either tunic really nails the tone of his tunic, but I'd lean towards the production color, at least going by the lighting I've seen it under, a shade like that will behave differently in lighting colors and conditions. Pants came out fine, boot cloths are very realistic and nicely done too with the weathering, a step up for them in that department. His poncho is nice, might have been better with a wire in it, but I think you can get it to look fine without one.

My only big nit witht his figure and it's a broken record one for the board, but the Buck hurts this one. I know Sideshow makes these things with display intended, so slap him on the base and it's ok if the body has a few shortcomings, but the work I do with these figures exposes shortcomings and it can be a bother. The ankles on the Buck body suck utterly unless the figure is in boots, they are week and don't hold many poses. The method they used on Luke's boots gives him the best overall look, but in the end he suffers like any non-booted Sideshow figure with floppy feet and getting him to stand nicely without a stand can be a ^^^^^. I know a lot of folks would say he'd be better on Prometheus no matter what, but to me the Buck can be sufferable with some figures but in this case, it hurts the figure in a way that's hard to look past. However, Prometheus may not be the saving grace we all hope for, if it's anythign like the Hobbit body, it'll suffer it's own problems, loose wrists and ankles and neck joints, so time will tell how that body will pay off for us. In the end, Luke could use a body with strong ankle joints.

I've been in doubt about this Luke head sculpt until I saw this pic from Celebration Japan:

BAM! All of a sudden I see a much better likeness of Luke that's convinced me this will look better in hand. Only wish I didnt have to cancel my exclusive pre-order and wait for local shops to get a regular in :monkey2

Anybody else see a much better likeness in this particular photo?

In all honesty the only thing i ever doubted was sideshows crapola paint app's, i think the sculpt captured Lukes likeness perfectly.
It is amazing how paint & lighting can change somethings appearance.

He's an odd one, even in hand from certain angles he looks **a bit** off, but from others looks great. Still, I'd place him as the 2nd best Luke sculpt, just behind Jedi. And if Jedi was just a smidge smaller he'd be perfect in my eyes.

Edit I should probably clarify, by sculpt I meant final product overall... I think both raw sculpts are nearly flawless, but paint and scultp seem to work better with Jedi.
