Memnoch- Oh, I have no problem answering that. I think the bottom line is, portrait sculptors get too much of the credit! heh! When I'm hired for a job involving one of these 1/6 scale figures, all I do is the head. Other sculptors are hired to make the accessories and boots and what not. It's more efficient to hire multiple people for those kinds of things., as anyone might guess.

Trev

Its strange that we never hear who makes the accessories, i would'nt mind knowing who makes them, what source material the use, how they decide what size they should be too big, too small. We get alot of these cool bit with the sideshow figures.

That would be cool to learn as well. I wonder if they're let into Lucas' archives like Master Replicas would be, or maybe they were put in touch with Master Replicas for some items. At least with lightsabers, they pretty much have a template to go off after the first one in terms of the overall size of the hilt.

personally id like to see a credits section on the box of these figures or have a seperate card inside like my hot toys jack sparrow. a lot of hard work goes into all these figures but the headsculpt artist usually gets all the credit.

Well, that's why Sideshow stopped posting just the head sculpt artist. Most figures don't list that much anymore. We wouldn't know who half the sculpts were done by if it weren't for some of the sculptors posting here. We find out most from Andy or Trev, Oluf occassionally posts when he's done a piece, that's about it. Some of us just guess who the sculptor was based on style with some things, like Bespin Luke being a Mat Falls sculpt. I agree that it'd be cool to know who went into a piece.

id still want the info on the box. i hate always going back to the site to look up artists and edition sizes. wish they would at least include the edition sizes with the figs. they dont have to individually # the 12 in figs but at least put the edition size on the bottom of the box or something.

I'm not too interested in edition sizes on these figures. Unless the figure has an edition number, it becomes a mute point for me.

It would be cool if they listed the credits for who made what... but maybe that's not okay with the license holders?

Unfortunately, artistic jobs can often lead to doing something people admire and love but never know who did it. I remember when I started my schooling for graphic design, raising the question and having to live with the answer that most of the time, no one will ever have a clue I did any of the artwork that gets put out there. It's something you sort of have to accept sometimes. Not saying it wouldn't be cool to find out who on these pieces, but from an artists perspective in a commercial environment like this, I can say it's something you almost come to expect and any recognition is just a thrill for you. In a way though, it's also better for some artists not to be known. When we do our portfolios, we want people to see and know us for the best of the best. There may be sculptors and other artists on these figures that don't want to be associated with every piece, just the ones they're most proud of.

I would like to see that as well. I like it especially when I go to SDCC and some of the guys are there I can tell them hey I really liked "X" piece.

The accessory sculptor is usually listed in the "team" credited to each piece. I know Jared used to do a lot of them, but I don't know if he does any more. Dooley also did them before starting portrait sculpts. I'm sure there are a lot of others as well.

To me, I think sculting some of the accessories would almost be harder than a portrait, they're smaller, still highly detailed, and most of them geometric so you have to be more precise in your work. I just noticed on Old Ben's saber hilt that they have little bits of melt and bending on the emitter, that's pretty detailed for a tiny little weapon. They really have some top notch people working on accessories.

What's the exclusive gonna be?

My bet is on a Blast-shield training helmet...

Actually, have we had a 1/6 remote yet?

How about a whine-o-matic...

"But I was gonna go to Tosche station and pick up some power converters!"

Ah...I swore that there was a Remote, but I kept thinking the exclusive with Obi-Wan was the Leia hologram...

I didn't think of regular accessories...

So the helmet is our best bet?

Not that hat and poncho...

He doesn't even wear them in the film...And they make him look like a dork...

I really hope they give him cloth shoes/boots. This costume in particular had much softer fabric on the footwear than a normal boot.

It really defeats the purpose of having articulated ankles when they come with hard plastic boots.
