I always wanted Nathan Fillion to play Pym, I guess Paul Rudd can play the hero again like he did when he fought Michael Myers. I just can't see Rudd as a wife beater. :dunno

I really doubt they will go that route in the movies.

I'd be happy with Rudd as Antman and Rashida Jones as Wasp.

So Ant Man in this movie is a crook who steals the technology from Hank Pym to save his daughter.

Wut.

Sorry im very ignorant to Ant man but I thought Hank pym was antman who then became giant man?

He was. Pym eventualy had something of a mental breakdown, and decided he wasn't cut out for the hero biz.

I'm anticipating that in the new movie, they make Pym a long-dead contemporary of HOWARD Stark ( possibly even one whom worked on Artificial intelegence, and possibly research that leads to the creation of JArvis, whom i expect becomes Ultron, but that's another Can of worms) , and do one of the other two ant-men.

Scott Lang was a thief who first became Ant-Man after stealing Henry Pym's Ant-Man suit to save his daughter Cassie from a heart condition.[5] Reforming from his life of crime, he soon took on a full-time career as Ant-Man with the encouragement of Hank Pym.[6] He became an affiliate of the Fantastic Four,[7] and most recently became a full-time member of the Avengers. For a period of time he dated Jessica Jones.[5] He was later killed by the Scarlet Witch along with Vision and Hawkeye in Avengers Disassembled,[8] but his daughter, Cassie, has taken up his heroic mantle as Stature, in the pages of Young Avengers. He has returned in 2011 in the pages of the mini series known as The Children's Crusade, but soon loses his daughter when she heroically sacrifices herself to stop a super charged Doctor Doom.

Eric O'Grady is the third character to take up the title of Ant-Man. Eric O'Grady is a low-level agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. who stumbled upon the Ant-Man suit in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s headquarters.[9] A man of few morals and willing to lie, cheat, steal, and manipulate in order to get ahead in life, Eric stole the armor for his own selfish plans, which included using his status as a "super-hero" to seduce women[10] and humiliate and torment others.[11] He had his own short-lived title before being part of other teams: first the Avengers: The Initiative and then The Thunderbolts and more recently Secret Avengers.

A couple places are saying this is official art for the movie. Who knows if it is. Seems interesting

If it is ... then nice. I like the direction.

From the interwebs:

We knew this for a while, but it's getting official now: Paul Rudd is going to star in Ant-Man for director Edgar Wright. A lot of sites say that he's playing Hank Pym but I am like 99% certain he's playing Scott Lang, a petty thief who steals Pym's shrinktastic Pym Particles and ant-controlling helmet.

That makes sense because everything I hear about Ant-Man is that it's a techno-heist movie. And Lang as an accidental superhero could give the film the sort of comedic frisson we would hope from a script by Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish. And it would work perfectly for Rudd.

I like the casting for a bunch of reasons. Rudd's been great for years and everybody likes him but he hasn't had a thing that was his through and through. I'm not sure why. This is a nice opportunity. And it isn't like Ant-Man is going to take Rudd away from some Oscar movie; if anything the film will likely have the kind of humanity and pathos we find in Wright and Cornish movies, giving Rudd a little more to do than he has in the many (hilarious) comedies where we usually see him.

And I really would like to see him show up in an Avengers movie and trade quips with Robert Downey Jr. That has to be what this is building towards, right?

Everybody? I think he's overrated in the sucktastic chickflick **** he's famous for. What's next? Dane Cook as Pym? :monkey1

I wonder if the rumors of Rashida Jones as Wasp are true now too. She's already been in two movies with Rudd and they have good chemistry... but I was kinda hoping they would go with the Ultimates version of Wasp so we would get an Asian actress and make the MU a little more diverse.

I remember rumors and photos of Eva Longoria at Marvel offices with wasp comics... I still think she'd be a pretty neat choice for the role too.

Ick, Rudd headlining a movie. Oh well, not my choice, but I believe in Wright's ability to deliver an interesting Ant-Man, so I'll wait and see.
