I am currently considering getting a Hot Toys Rambo for my collection and it's pretty hard deciding on which one to get. I really want one of the two FIRST BLOOD versions, but it's hard to make up my mind. The original FB version is more iconic, but the M-65 jacket version has a nearly perfect headsculpt, and a great outfit. I've been put off of buying either version as I'm affraid HT might go all SUPERMAN RETURNS on us and do a definitive, 2-in-1 version (I missed the first HT Supes and bought the original Clark Kent as a stand in. Imagine how dissapointed I was when I heard about their 2-in-1 version.)

Is there any chance that HT might revisit the classic versions of the character, or even release an older John from RAMBO (IV)?

Its really hard to tell with them... although I think a lot of the reason we saw the re-release of Superman was that the figure was limited initially to 1200. I don't think either of the FB Rambos were that limited.

I dont see Hot Toys offering a 2 in 1 version here. Mostly because one is on a muscle body and the jacket version is not. And if you put the sweater and jacket on a muscle body Rambo will look way to bulky.

As far a recommending one its a hard choice. They are equally great figures that represent the character well.

There's no telling what chances are, but certainly many of us hope to see a RAMBO version of John Rambo, even a couple would be nice.

As for revisiting their previous figures, would be nice to see the original First Blood and Rambo 2 figures with the quality of Head sculpts HT is putting out of Rambo now, but who knows.

And as far as which FB Rambo to get, to me the most iconic and representational is the first release as that's the wardrobe he's in for most of the film, where the M65 jacket version only covers the opening 10 minutes or so, but it does have the better HS.

Now that I think about it, wouldn't HT have to create a different body or a new rubber suit for a RAMBO verison? Stallone was considerably more bulky in the 4th film than he was in the originals, so the standard Rambo body wouldn't cut it. Maybe that's why HT hasn't announced one yet.

He was bulkier, but HT's always been generic about the muscular body with Rambo.

The FB Rambo looks too muscular on the body, he wasn't very buff in First Blood. Rambo 2 is about perfect with the body he's on, and Rambo 3 is a bit under muscled.

For RAMBO, I think if they gave him a thick enough t-shirt on the current muscular body, it'd work fine. Another option would be to use the Rocky muscular body, it has bulkier pectorals and all, and with a shirt, there's no need for the scars because you'll never see them.

I think with what's already been made, they could easily put together a RAMBO version.

I think the only thing that would stop them is if RAMBO is under different license holding than the other 3 films.

Rocky line looked all but dead and they just released a new Rocky, so, as Balboa would say "ain't nothing over 'til it's over". Unllike Sideshow, just because HT hasn't premiered or released in a line for a while, doesn't mean persay they're done.

Why would that piss anyone off?

It would piss of people who paid insane prices on eBay because they thought it'd be the only way they'd ever get one, but that's life sometimes and HT is no stranger to tactics that piss consumers off, like BD versions that are better than the first release, or improved Supes. If they think it'll sell, they'll do it.

I only own the M65 version... to me that's what I think of when I think of Rambo. Only downside is the hands are too generic... I wish he'd come with the prototype hands.

Yeah, I guess there is always someone out there who is gonna get upset, oh well.

Hot Toys could do a new FIRST BLOOD Rambo using the original body and costume, but with a new headsculpt, and the brown, tie-around, poncho thingy he wears in the movie.

Hands are Hot Toys' weak point, only ones that look good are the ones they've had to newly sculpt over the last few years, like Jack Sparrow and the gloved boxing hands for Rocky.

Yeah, I'm surprised they've haven't addressed that across the board yet. Its kind of a bummer when the whole figure is amazing and then you have late 90's dragon hands staring back at you :lol

IMO Rambo 3 is the best figure, but i guess it comes down to which Movie you like the most,i have all of them,+ 2 customs.

THAT's what I'm talking about! Did you make the poncho yourself?

Hot Toys would simply have to put the M-65 head on the original body, dirty him up, give him the poncho and release it as a "Battle Damaged" version.

The Rambo 3 looks perfect, but the sad thing is that I've never actually seen the movie! I've seen FIRST BLOOD, RAMBO: FBII, and RAMBO, so I would rather get a Rambo from one of those movies (preferably the original, as that was the best.)

If they did something like that, they ought to sculpt in some bandana on his forehead. They could release it without the bandana and have it be him for the brief moments he was without it, but considering he has a bandana in all 4 films, it's a bit uncharacteristic to have battle Rambo sans bandana.

There are really 4 figures you could have from First Blood alone:

1) M-65 flight jacket
2) Jeans and tank top with tarp poncho accessory, no bandana
3) Jeans and tank top with tarp poncho and bandana
4) Jeans, tank top, bandana, blood and mud weathering

Yes I did, it is as simple as it gets, cut material, some string and alot of bbq grease and dirt, no paint here. :D I think it turned out good, I will upgrade the string though, mines too thick.

I agree with what you are saying about wanting a First Blood figure being that its the original from the original movie but you really need to see the Rambo III in person. I have around 30 figures in my collection and this ones sculpt is still the most amazing!

First Blood is the best of them all, I think i've watched it like 120 times now. :D

Ya, as far as sculpts and paints apps on the heads, I'd rank em:

1) Rambo 3
2) FB M65 Rambo
3) FB Rambo
4) Rambo 2

The quality, accurracy and attitude of the Rambo 2 perfectly reflect the character from the film. I imagine if they do a RAMBO version, it'll feature a similar attitude as John is very jaded in the movie. I do hope they make a fighting and M65 version from RAMBO also, both would be VERY treasured figures.
