Just popped into these forums as I'm interested in 1/6 Hot Toys and Sideshow but already have a few Play Arts 1/6 units as well, that I'm quite fond of.

Wondering if anybody here is a Play Arts fan?

Asking in the Marvel board specifically because I'm wondering if anybody has heard anything about the Marvel movies getting Play Arts figures? So far the only Marvel figures Square Enix has done are the variant line, which have their own appeal, but with Superman v Batman getting Play Arts figures, thought it would be cool to have the option to pair them with Civil War Play Arts figures, for example.

Considering the Hot Toys Cap and Winter Soldier, but boy are they expensive :)

I collect Play Arts. I've heard nothing in a few months about any new Marvel Play Arts figures, but I'm hoping they start pumping out more soon. I'd love a more comic oriented and less "variant" line for both Marvel and DC in these. I'm still hoping they drop a Hulk and Wolverine into the line soon.

PLay arts is not 1/6, their scale is really unknown. They were smaller but now some of them nearly 12 inch. I am have several PAK. I am actually like variant series but price keep increased and really put me off. Beside I am prefer HT over Play Arts anytime for movie figure, PAK headsculpt looks horrid

I wanted to jump on board with PAK during my Final Fantasy hey day, and I did buy the Lightning figure. The elbow goes backwards!.. put me off buying any more. If it wasn't for that I'd probably grabbed the Tidus and Yuna figures for the FFX remake because it is my favourite FF. I also have the Nathan Drake, which is really, really bad.. honestly, the $15 figure they threw in the Uncharted 3 Collector Edition has a better likeness.

Just joined the forum as well, hello all!

I'm also a PAK fan, but I stopped collecting them once Hot Toys came into my life, most of them actually live in their boxes now so I'll probably end up attempting to sell them, unfortunately the vast majority of them don't retain their value the way Hot Toys does.

I haven't heard of any new Marvel lines coming to PAK, just a new Final Fantasy 7 line. My advice would be to go for the Hot Toys Civil War Cap and you'll probably find that they are worth the price tag, especially considering PAK keep going up in price as well.

Hey man, thanks for the thoughts! We can be newbs together! :)

I think PAK get reprints from time to time, which I'm sure does hurt their resale value.

But I'd think with what, dozens of Iron Man Hot Toys figures, that they'd also depreciate. I would bet the farther back from the most recent movie's appearance a figure gets, the less demand there is for it? Iron Man mk III was re-released recently and I love the look but most people seem to think it's too old or retro looking. Because there are a billion Iron Man releases alone I can't imagine the older ones have much value with maybe a few exceptions? The fact that it apparently can scratch itself irrevocably by simply posing the legs wrong is a huge red flag for me on Hot Toys diecast figures though...
