Any trick to ordering from Gentle Giant?

- Limit one per person, per order. Only one order will be accepted per Collector’s Club member per day. Any attempts to place multiple orders with the same email address, ! ;shipping address, or credit card number will be canceled without notification.

People on another forum were able to order multiple black-pauldron sandtroopers last year, so I don't know who much they police their orders. Knowing Gentle Giant, I wouldn't be surprised if people who weren't in the Collector's Club were able to order these as well.

I never got the email either. Anthony (gran3131) sent me a PM over at Sandtroopers which I didn't read until I got home from work. GG just messed things up again today.

Gentle Giant can send out all of the e-mails at once, but for various reasons, they don't all get delivered at the same time. That's not their fault. I remember when Sideshow mailed out the newsletter and some people got it hours (or days) before other people. More than once, I had to rely on the Freaks board to get some orders in when I was left without a preorder link due to my slow e-mail server. They learned their lesson and switched to posting it on the website and allowing members to log in and view it, all at the same time once it goes live. We can only hope that GG decides to follow their lead.

I wouldn't look for that to happen.

They did seem to follow SS lead before and sent emails with a link that would go live several days later at a specified time. Apparently their statement for this fiasco is that their servers were getting hit too hard to other way with everyone trying to order at once, so this way the traffic would be staggered and they could better handle the orders.

Sounds good for GG, but very bad for those interested in picking these up.

Well I got my orders in for Mara and the Shocktrooper. I will try and limit myself to EU only characters, as there should not be too many of them. The shocktrooper will be available to a member who missed out on today's order at cost.

Well, I was worried that I wouldn't be around when the Mara bust went up so I gave in and bought one off eBay two weeks ago. Now I was able to get one today at the regular price, so I guess I will stick the other one back on eBay and try to get some of that money back. I wish I had just a little more patience, and I wouldn't get myself into situations like this...

GG is not sending to Turkey or Russia and therefore I ordered with my e-mail and my credit card , but to the adress of TOE, which he already ordered before. In this case, I am suspicious that they might cancel my order. If so, I might interested in your mara bust if you haven't paid tremendous amount

Very true Tom. However, GG gets no slack from me. They are always mucking things up like this allowing things to get more messed up than they should. GG needs to go the way of SS now or they will really hurt themselves.

Once I have it in hand (I want to avoid any BHS disaster), I'll figure out a fun way for everyone to have a shot at it. I have pre-auths for both orders so I feel pretty confident about getting it but I'd just like to make sure.

Right. GG isn't some rinky-dink company. They deal with huge licenses and should up-grade their operation if they don't want to continue ticking off their customers.

I know after all of the horror stories I cant wait to see these in my house before I completely jump for joy. I am just really glad I got a Mara. I really wanted on of these. I may get a few more of the busts like Han Chewbacca Leia Vader Yoda and maybe a few others but I think Im with Loki Im collecting EU

I am so glad I didnt start collecting these because I think they would cause me to go completely grey by now. I am so glad Sideshow lets everyone know when an exclusive goes up for order and they allow you to preorder everything.

That's how I feel.

GG as a whole is a great Co. but some of their business decisions are crazy. They could learn a LOT fron SS.

I really wanted to start collecting the GG busts but trying to get them all is just nuts. That's fine though, since it gives me more $$$ to buy SS products.

I agree--they make some cool stuff and have access to some great licenses, but compared to Sideshow they are just clueless when it comes to customer service and interaction with their customers and fans. I am just baffled by their decisions at times. Makes me appreciate Sideshow all the more. It would take GG a long time to catch up to where Sideshow is today, and by then SS would still surpass them, because they are constantly moving forward and looking for ways to improve things.

Just look at how much SS have changed things in the last year based on customer requests and feedback. With GG, here we are again having our credit cards declined wrongly or the links not working with a huge sale following weeks of anticipation. Just very frustrating. I will say that when Sideshow hits a bump in the road, it is very rare for them not to address it and make improvements immediately.

I have some hope for GG, since they responded to our requests and decided to do the summer convention preorders in advance, but there is still much to be done before they can fulfill their true potential.

After looking at the email that was sent I think it wasnt suppose to be sent to collectors society members yet but it was. It was probably suppose to be an internal test to make sure everything was working right before the real email was suppose to go out this morning probably. This would explain why most didnt get the email and why the credit cards werent able to be charged their for a while. I think somebody made a mistake and few people were lucky enough to get one. Have any of you all who never got the email gotten it yet. Also did you notice when they had them listed in the email their was not link for Mara but when you clicked on the one in the paragraph above that it took you to the page just a few weird things I noticed about this.

I agree with ya Tom. I had some hope GG would be moving forward by the way they did the summer convention po but they have taken a step back to square one.
