I filed my taxes on Jan 30. Obviously the gov't would not process them until Feb 14 due to new tax laws. On Feb 16 I got an email to expect my return on Feb 25. But now I check irs.gov and I get this.

Refund Status Results

Your expected refund date has been changed due to processing delays. You should receive your refund by March 8, 2011.

Please wait until that date to contact us again because we cannot take any action until then. Thank you for your patience.

that's just the thing. I got the email on FEB 16 saying the fed had received my filing and accepted it. Then it said to expect your refund on Feb 25. Haven't gotten anything since then so I checked irs.gov.

I haven't done mine yet. I'm one of those that usually waits until a week before deadline. I've got to get crackin' on the business ones though. UGH!

I did mine around 2/11 on turbo tax and I had the $$ deposited into my bank account on 2/18...... :dunno

.....however, I feel as though I've gotten too much back. Wouldn't they have caught any errors before sending me any $$?! I'm not trying to keep money that's not mine....

At least you got a return. Ive done my taxes the same way every year, as far as deductions go at least, and i usually get back around $1500. this year i ended up $1000 in the hole. not sure how that happened. some funny business going on in Washington this year. good luck.

Figure out you actual tax % from before to you actual tax % for this year and see if there is big difference. Just because you paid one year and got back some another doesn't mean a thing really.

Don't worry, just keep half in your savings in case you have to return it, but I doubt it.

My better half just started ours last night. She has the degree so she gets the fun of doing them. Luckily we don't have state tax here so its not that bad to file just the federal.

This sounds very close to what happened with mine. I think we did ours on the 23rd or something, though. Originally, we were informed that we would get ours about the same time as you 02/25-03/04, then on 02/25 it changed to 03/08. State tax return got direct deposited on 02/24.

H&R Block tells me it is because the return is so large that they take extra time to scrutinize it.

I expected it, though as the same thing happened to me last year.

How long would it take for the IRS to contact me if there is an error, or if I have to return any money?

They usually send you a letter before they sent your refund if there's an error. I just said hold on to some of the money just to give you peace of mind.

Does that amount match what you had in turbo tax?
